Chevron gas station audits

I signed up for two of these at $14.50 each. After reviewing the manual and learning what is expected, these seem a bit daunting to me. I hope someone who is familiar with Chevron assessments can offer some advice. I was recently disappointed when I found out that I could not self-assign bonused Chevron mystery shops because I signed up to be an image auditor, and can't do both. One of the simple mystery shops paid $26, 2 gallons of gas, and $1. The image audits must take about an hour, and then I don't know how long the report will take--all for $14.50.
Anyone have an opinion on Chevrons?

I did a shop for Union 76. They wanted 26 pictures taken, and filling out the report. They only paid $14. I don't know if I would do it again. It took almost an hour.
I only do the mystery shop program too, as it is a much better deal to me.

I signed up for 4 of these, and I was disappointed that i couldn't do the other as well. sad smiley The first one I did was awful because the employee at the Chevron was mean and not happy I was there, and the store had a lot of violations. But after I got that first one under my belt, it got a lot better.

The report can be tedious, but you will have the information from your form that you fill out onsite and leave with the store. Just make sure you check all of your pictures before you leave. I had to go back to two of the stores and re-take one picture at each one because the one I took didn't meet the guidelines. By the end of the day I was doing them in 30 minutes.
luckily in the south there is another msc that also does chevron and the
work is much less for same or more pay.

I am in the South also, our Chevron's are a piece of cake. No pictures, roughly 10 minutes on site.
I did one Chevron shop for the 14.50, it took over an hour! Maybe it could get faster once I do a few. I like the Exxon and She'll shops because I have them down to a science!
Do the Chevron image audits ever get bonused? Maybe that would make them worth learning to do? And do they really have to mail me the report form for each shop that I agree to do?

In going over the project documentation, I found the tone of this document to be intimidating. If I understand it correctly, if I fail to catch all the infractions, then I will be removed from all --- shops. $14.50 doesn't seem like enough compensation for all this trouble. I am unsure I can do these up to their standards. I wish I had taken the mystery shops instead--but I was clueless when they called and asked me which I preferred.

"Chevron and --- personnel worked together to conduct group reviews at 25
separate Chevron locations immediately following audits performed by independent
contractors. We found alarming issues where a select group of evaluators have been
overlooking blatant infractions, including some attempts at fraud.
Missing obvious issues such as these are not acceptable and will result in immediate
removal from all --- Programs for any evaluator discovered to be ignoring standards."

shannon_b,

You may wish to edit your post from 4:27pm today. Forum guidelines prohibit stating the name of the MSC and the client in the same thread.

Welcome to the forum. smiling smiley

Can someone message me the name of the MSC that does the Chevron in the South (GA)? I am also looking for BP, Racetrack and Quiktrip. I really enjoy doing gas stations and I already do most of the other brands. However, due to rotations, I have no upcoming ones in the next few weeks.
That would be both a violation of the non-disclosure clause of the ICA we sign when we sign up for a company and the rules of this forum. PM is included.

Update: I completed the assessment as scheduled, during a severe rain-storm. The Maritz team-member told me that I could not reschedule easily, which is a problem with Chevron stations, because they have to mail you materials for each visit. The location had many non-compliant issues. I became soaking wet no matter how hard I tried to stay out of the blowing, heavy rain.

Then, when I gave the owner/manager on duty my copy of the assessment, he became irritated and said: "You found everything." I felt uncomfortable.

Now I really wish I had chosen the mystery shops for this client. The client demands a lot for $14.50, and I haven't seen any of these bonused. They might take 20 minutes to perform if there are few issues on-site, and another 20 minutes to report. With driving time to and from, materials review, etc., these shops take 1 hour-90 minutes to complete.
