You do not, in aNY state, require a license to do a PPv assignment as these are. I wanted to source info rather than say you're posting without knowing and didn't have time before.
I would greatly appreciate you not giving false information to a public forum like this especially. Courtesy of about three people in the thread giving false information there was one person who bailed after accepting (and conducting) my job and two declined citing this thread and fears about doing something illegal or requiring a special license. I've taken the time to source everything so no one has to "trust me" and I won't be calling anyone any names. I assume it was unintentional but flippant remarks can have bigger consequences and saying sorry doesn't get that money back.
You guys are literally costing my business money because you're not being honest with what your posting.(unintentional or not). The first rule of this forum is to be honest. Can you guys please take the time to verify statements like this? You're not giving an opinion. You're passing this off as fact and it isn't. Nearly a two thousand dollar monetary loss because of you guys posting things that were false and I'm sure none of you will cover that loss for your mistakes. That's just for me, and only what I was able to confirm. I just need it to stop and I hope you all can see why and understand
Please consider this a request to amend your post to reflect the correct info or removal.
This pi licensing company clearly lists surveillance by places accessible to the general public as no license required. I've copied the appropriate section below the link as source info so others may verify what I am repeating.

To engage in similar fields of private investigation: You do not need a license to do process serving, online research, installation of hidden videos, and other related activities. You will learn about these in your course. These businesses will allow you to perform many of the same functions as a licensed investigator, including conducting surveillance, serving legal papers, tracking missing persons for process service, installing hidden videos to protect children from abusive baby sitters, etc. These businesses will also give you the opportunity to network and provide your services to other licensed investigators, clients, attorneys, and the courts and begin building trust and forming new relationships.
You also specifically listed California as a state you MUST have a pi license to conduct these. You were completely wrong as per here. Californias privacy rights act specifically addresses this and says a licensed pi May contract out observations and surveillance to unlicensed individuals or businesses.

They specifically cite THIS EXACT SCENARIO as permissible as long as they are working for a pi and the licensed person is the only one turning evidence over to the client. Pretty much your entire statement was incorrect.
May a licensed investigator employ or contract with unlicensed persons to perform investigative tasks? The answer appears to be a qualified yes. Under the PIA, a licensee may be an individual, partnership, corporation, or other business.(52) If the licensee is a partnership, corporation, or other business, it must designate a licensed "manager," under whose "direction, control, charge, or management the business...is operated."(53) The individual or manager licensee is "legally responsible for the good conduct...of his or her employees or agents...,"(54) and only the licensee, manager, or other person authorized by them may submit a "written report...to a client."(55) Also, employees (though, apparently, not agents) of licensed investigators may provide the "incidental" personal protection.(56)
