audio recorder recommendation

I was hoping someone could recommend a low cost audio recorder I can hide in my purse to use during shops. it would help me a lot to be able to play it back when writing reports.
Please don't respond with comments regarding consent laws or ask what state I live in. im aware of the laws in my state.

I use a Sony that has a USB cable so I can transfer recordings to my laptop and email them if necessary.

I don't know if concealing the recorder in your purse is a good idea because the mic may not be able to pick up the sound. I keep my recorder in my shirt pocket and have had no problems.

Cyndy, if you have a smart phone - download the free app - Killer Voice Recorder. It works PERFECTLY and for however long you need it. You can keep and/or share the files easily... great app and I use it all of the time. Picks up sound wonderfully

Someone here recommended it and I love it so much! I, too, use a shirt pocket - it looks very natural to have a cell phone there, and the sound is perfect everytime. I've used it in my open top purse as well, but the best quality is from my shirt pocket.
I have a Sony as well. It's about 1" wide and 4" long. 4GB USB direct pc link. IC Recorder written on the side. I got it from amazon and paid $60 I think. It was a few years ago. It works great and has a slide button to prevent accidentally shutting the recording off. The mic is very sensitive.
When permitted (explicit permission granted since I generally make calls from a 2-party consent state and shop in two different 2-party consent states), I use a Sony ICD-PX440. It uses a microSD card, has a USB to plug directly into your PC, and a slide switch designed to avoid inadevertant turn-off. It is widely available. I bought my at Best Buy, and they matched the Amazon price.

Thank you all for your replies. Im going to try the Killer voice recorder app first. Hopefully it works well for me and I dont have to spend any money buying one.

Thanks again,
Cyndy
