Maritz route " counteroffer"

Has anyone ever been successful with countering Maritz route offers? In particular, the one set of gas routes that they're paying like 10.50 ea and dumping them in routes of like 50 spread across multiple states.

I feel like it would take a ridiculous amount of time to really figure out how long it would take to complete and what the total mileage would be. It I did work it out, the number would be so much higher than what they're offering that there's bound to be someone who is willing to take it at or near the crap that they're paying. It doesn't seem worth the effort to figure out a reasonable counter.

Thoughts?

Yes, I have been successful with my counter-offers.
Your counter does not have to be reasonable. If you know the locations, you can get a good feel for about how many miles you'll be driving.
Watch for the "orphaned" locations, however. They've started mixing in the ones that other shoppers have rejected from routes, and they can be quite distant from the rest of your route's main clusters of shops.
I counter offered at $30 per location for 50 locations that were originally offered to me at a whopping $568 for all 50, spread out over 1000 miles. I never heard back from them. After reading myst4u's post about the true cost of driving 1000 miles, which came out to around $558, I realized that this MSC might be calculating the total miles of a route, then using the IRS mileage reimbursement figure as the basis of their first offer. I thought that by asking 3x their offer, I could get them to come down to 2x their offer. But probably someone who does not know how to calculate expenses took the whole route for a bit more than the first offer.

As for looking for the orphaned locations, Maritz makes it very difficult to search beyond 100 miles of your registered address. And then you won't see any bonuses. Example: Two shoppers, A and B. A lives 1000 miles from B. Both A and B can see bonus offeres for shops within 100 miles of their registered addresses. Then, A decides to visit the area where B shops. Now A can't see any of the bonuses that are being offered to B. So, where a shop is offered to B for $25, the same shop will only be offered to A for $11.
I've never had much luck on the counter offers. They usually go for the very lowest
bid , even if it takes them awhile to find someone to do them. I refuse to do their
route shops for less than $20 a shop.
I've all but given up on these shops (the green ones). I've counter-offered what I considered reasonable and have never been affirmed.
Then, weeks later, the shops show up as individual shops (because there was not a person who would accept their offer).
My counter-offer always included a margin of error to my benefit as the routes offered always had one of those stations that were quite distant from the others. I figured that into my calculations and as leverage to myself.

I figured wrong though. No matter the green stations were always a pita with their FedExed reports, etc.
I have two small green routes. They pay nicely so I take them consistently. If they dropped the price at all I'd be donezo. I'd like to pick up more but apparently they keep going to their normal shopper.

I have been successful with counter offers on those, and I have been unsuccessful. But my number is based on my expenses and mileage so it's a real number that they can take or refuse. I do leave a little wiggle room but if someone else wants to do it for less there's not much I can do about that. There is a station in a route I've done a couple of times that is a hot mess. I always add 50 bucks to the route just for that one station.

Like Hoju, I'd be done for even $10 less. They are a pita in my opinion.
I got offers today for several different routes with up to 50 locations each, over geographical areas spanning over a hundred miles north-south and east-west. They were offering about $11 per location. I decided that it would take me at least an hour (maybe more) just to enter the addresses so that I could see where they were, more time to then divide them into reasonable routes, and then time to multiply miles by the IRS rate (the easiest part). I am certain that double the rate would not be enough to even pay for mileage since I would have to spend an hour (on average, in some cases easily two hgours) getting to the start of each route each day, and then come back and some are in areas with a lot of traffic.

So, I decided that it wasn't even worth trying to figure it out.

When I am bored, I respond to the "make me an offer" request to do business verifications which are in the middle of nowhere, 150 miles and 3 hours away. That at least is easy to calculate. A day of my time, 300 miles. I have never had an offer accepted, so "make me an offer" means nothing.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
@myst4au that's exactly how I look at it. For this last one I went 5x their ask. It took seconds and if they want to counter, they're welcome to.

I have counter-offered and then had them come back to me with a counter-offer to my counter-offer. Worked out well.
I don't do Maritz anymore they put a shop on me that was over sixty miles away and I sent them an email wanting to know what they were thinking. Just because I was a green Mystery Shopper doesn't mean that I am stupid. They didn't like that and now I get no offers. but hey C'est la vie or the way I like it is "the fecal matter has hit the rotary impeller."
