Video equipment lending

Hi there, I'm thinking of trying a video shop for the first time. This MSC ships the equipment to you but it's written somewhere that they will deduct the shipping charges from your pay. They don't say how much? $10, 20$, $50?
It would help to have an idea before I apply for the shop.

It's a dentist shop and their instructions say to install the button cam in the upper middle, about the third button. Well, what's the point it'll be covered the whole time by the bib and X-ray protector.

If I take the assignment, I was thinking attaching the cam around the belly button area. At least it wouldn't covered by the bib.

Any thoughts?

First, don't worry about the cam being covered during the exam, it is expected. You need to have it positioned so you get good framing for everything other than the actual exam so having it that low won't work during the check in process.

Even assuming I am correct about which company, I can't recall their rental fee for the equipment. At one time it was $50, but it could have gone down since then. If they are going to provide you some training it will be a cheap price to pay. If they just send you the camera and leave you hanging, not such a good deal. To my knowledge the scheduler for those shops has never performed a video shop herself and is not readily available when problems arise since she refuses to allow video shoppers to call her and insists on emails only.

Is this for Measure Consumer Perspectives? I'm debating applying for a video shop for them in suburban Phoenix.
I have my first one on Tues - the rental isn't much. I haven't yet found enough work in my area to warrant purchasing my own equipment. I'd like to get into it a lot more.
Yes it's for MCP.
Me too I'd like to get into the video shopping higher paying shops. IF, it's going to reduce the work involved doing reports. I won't be buying the equipment though.

I would be willing to buy the equipment, if I knew it would pay for itself AND if I knew there would be some volume of work beyond the payoff for the equipment. Video mystery shopping does indeed seem to pay more and I like the idea of the reports being minimal.....regular shops are just not paying all that great these days and if I just knew this would pay for itself and then some I'd be thrilled to do it. All that said, it seems as if I will be doing this dental shop for MCP - does anyone know what their rental fees are? And I'm guessing I'd be paying to ship the equipment back to them, also?
The "rental" fee should be all inclusive with them sending you a return shipping label. I'm saying should because I've never rented equipment and am going by what's been said by other shoppers. Please don't make the assumption all video shopping involves no or minimal reports. Some are as simple as entering the date/time of the shop along with a target name. Others add some radio buttons while still others have a report every bit as involved as the written version of the shop.

So, let's say the shopping video fee is $150, then they deduct $50 from your pay for the equipment? Sounds a bit steep, almost better to find out if you like video shopping and buy your own equipment, yes? smiling smiley
OTOH, it is a cheap price to pay if the shopper finds it is not for them. While a shopper could probably find a buyer for their equipment, they would be taking a bigger loss than $50. For that little of a discount most of us would just buy new.
