I would like to jump in here with a comment if I may. MF was the first MSC I had signed up with. I did an insane amount of route shops with them and had nothing but positive comments for them. Then it happened:
I was on a merchandising assignment and I am disabled. I have a neuro illness which cause involuntary muscle movements. Fortunately, the severe symptoms (loss of balance, absolutely cannot sit still, VERY humiliating and disabling) strike very rarely. Unfortunately, it strikes all of a sudden without warning. I have been questioned about heavy alcohol consumption which I deny. I do wear a medical alert necklace.
On this particular day, my illness decided to come out as soon as I got out of my car. I had been to this location on several occasions so I advised management immediately of my medical condition and that I would be able to complete my assignment for the day; however, it would take me extra time as I could not hold still. She responded, "That's fine. Let me know if I can do anything." Of course I did not ask for her aid at any time during my visit.
After submitting my report, MF informed me that the client requested I not return as the GM informed her Supervisor that I had reported to the location intoxicated. Further, I was permanently deactivated from MF because of the incident. They refused to accept anything from my Neurologist proving my condition and that alcohol was not a factor. As far as I am concerned, that is discrimination, subcontractor or not. Yes, I was pretty angry and even more so with the GM! I did not have alcohol on my breath, bloodshot eyes or any other symptoms of intoxication. I had a disability surprisingly flare on me and lost my job.
Yes, it still bothers me from time to time. I am not here to bash the company. At the same time, they are not a company I would ever recommend to anyone because of the incident.
Four years later and over 1,000 shops under my belt, I have moved on to higher paying companies and video shopping which I thoroughly enjoy.
I will say, I am guilty of being very mouthy with someone via Email (I don't recall who) AFTER I was advised of the accusation and not given the opportunity of proving otherwise.
All these years I have wanted to publicly express the incident, now I have. MF, you may have forgotten, but I have not.
