Hotel Shop--reimbursement only

Would you do a hotel shop that only reimburses the room and parking--no shopper fee? The requirements seem reasonable, but I don't know what the report is like.

For me, it all depends on whether I need or want a hotel night in the area, anyway, and how nice the property is. I like building up those hotel points on reimbursed nights when possible, too.

If it is the right brand, I will do it just for the points. I try to schedule it on an expensive night.

I've done them and will continue to, but of course compensation would be nice as well as the reimbursement.

I am pretty new to mystery shopping, but I would do reimbursement only hotels if it was somewhere I wanted to visit or was a needed stay to hop to the next tier of a loyalty program before the end of the year.

At this point thought, the only hotel shop I have done had a pretty easy report - less than two hours with most of it done in steps during the stay. If i were doing shops that called for much longer and more complicated reports with extensive photo requirements, I may sing a different tune!

I'm sure it also depends on your expectations for mystery shopping income. I'm hoping to make a few hundred dollars a month in supplemental income and enjoy a few perks, including free hotels in places that I would otherwise pay for a hotel. So for me, reimbursement only is acceptable, given my goals and limited experience.

I do it all the time for various reasons: A beach front hotel, to earn loyalty points, a place to stay out of town while visiting relatives, experience a new hotel.

I don't do any shops for reimbursement only. No shopper fee, no shopper!

All depends upon report and requirements. It also helps if I can book shops in the area of the hotel providing its out of town but still close to me like a few hours drive.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
