When store/restaurant LIES when confronted with MS results

So I received a call this week from a MS company. They were questioning my report because the restaurant challenged it. I have been MS shopping for about 10 years now. This has happened in the past in a compliance audit, never in a shop. The MS company said "they have cameras, they can go back". I told her to go back, I stand by my answers. The employee did such and such and didn't do such and such. I laughed, know employees lie, but surprised MS questioned me. I hope they do review the tape, I was honest in my reporting. Has anyone had this happen?

Yes. And usually it has happened when the shop was so seriously out of compliance that it would set off all sorts of alarms, bells and whistles. You can sort of 'smell' that kind of situation coming because non-compliance is so rampant. I remember one that was filthy enough in how food was handled that I crossed my fingers, took my mandatory taste and ditched the rest. I made copious notes and only included the worst of the offenses in the report. When questioned I was more than happy to add the rest of the notes to the list. I heard no more. Next visit the staff was all new.
You know whats funny/weird? They did OK. Nothing spectacular. However nothing horrible. Like you there have been times when the service was SO BAD and out of compliance like a shop recently I didn't hear anything from the MS and got a 10 on the shop. I am always prepared to answer follow up questions when I give the shop a poor rating.
Hard to tell sometimes. Hopefully this will be the last question about the shop, you will get duly paid/reimbursed and get to move on.
I have a restaurant in my town that I do quite often and, every single time I dock them for anything, I get an email from the MSC stating that they've questioned it and asking additional questions to confirm my answers. I've not ever had any trouble being paid, as I always tell the truth in my reports and can always back up my answers.

I think the manager of this particular restaurant is a PIA that can't admit imperfection. I know this is coming before I even accept these shops. smiling smiley

I have one in my town as well that will question anything. I once had a shop at their restaurant that went ok, but the server didn't ask if I wanted dessert or not. The manager complained to the MSC that the server reported that she did indeed offer me dessert, but I declined. The detail I left out of my report to avoid being identified was that I had been waiting forever for the check when the manager stopped by to visit my table. I said I was just waiting for the check and the manager made sure the server scrambled over there to get me my bill - no dessert offered. Incriminated the both of them, but took a little break from that location to avoid being identified as well as for the PITA factor. That was the shop where I decided to start recording my entire visit so I could have my own proof of what really went down.

Could I have a receipt please?

I wouldn't be surprised. While we're contractors for the MSC, they're contractors for their client. They need to do their due diligence to investigate client comments.

In the end, sounds like you're in a good position to get paid for the shop.

It depends upon the MSC. There is at least one who sides with the client even if you have photo proof and specific knowledge that you couldn't possibly have had if you weren't there (BARE). Please let us know what happens.
Thanks everyone. I haven't heard anything yet but also haven't gotten a check yet winking smiley. I will keep you posted.
Don't be surprised. If a client needs a good score desperately enough, you'll just get called out for a bogus timing error or get outed.
Nothing you can do but chuckle over it, in retrospect.
Yes MS called me the manager said I was not there, I said why don't they check the tapes, they called me back and asked what I was wearing, the next thing I know they paid me for the shop.
