Where to get the box for the shipping shop?

The guideline says the box can not have any markings so I need to buy a box. I looked at the dollar store and they don't carry shipping boxes. The ones at Staples are multi packs and cost $$. I don't even know how to get reimbursed for them if they come in a multi-pack because the receipt is for the whole pack? Where are you getting your boxes with no marking and how to get them reimbursement for the one box if you buy a multi-pack?

Gleaned from experienced shippers' posts:

1. Wal-Mart may sell boxes in stores or online.

2. Use your receipt from the multi-box purchase along with the calculation for the cost of one box. Upload a jpeg or scan this as a receipt.

Yes, I did read here that some bulk receipts were accepted. I saw some small boxes in KMart, cheaper than Staples....am heading over there now. Then down to the beach to scoop up some Jersey sand and shells to send to friends and family living inland. Anybody want some? ;~)

I use a cake mix and wrap in brown wrapping paper. Just put on the address to mail and the return address. I think that should be OK. That is what I always did in the past and it was fine. I have one shop and I will try it.

I bought two boxes at office depot and asked for separate receipts. After these two shops I'll know more about the options.

I go to a local Family Dollar or Dollar General store here and ask for a few empty boxes as they're unloading a U-boat and stocking shelves. They're happy to give me a few. I take then home and wrap in plain brown paper from a grocery bag. Never had a problem in 20 years with that.

Another recycling idea is to use your own boxes. Save those that come into your house from purchasing things.

I have an online business and save every good shipping box I can get. Sometimes I have on hand new boxes I can use for the USPS shops, but last time I didn't. I did have a box the perfect size, with a few minor markings on two sides. I covered them with opaque tape, then had a box with no markings.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.

Dollar Tree carries small boxes for $1 each - look in the stationary/pen/poster board/shipping area

Home Depot also carries some boxes for about a buck

I went to buy new boxes, and found every new box now comes with bar coding and numbers and/or text printed on the outside of the box. Pfui! Since it's not possible to get boxes with "no markings", I'll just reuse boxes I
have at home.

For used boxes, I just break the seam down the side and turn them inside out. Re-tape closed and you are as good as new - without any markings.

For personal packages I sometimes open the seams of sturdy boxes with markings, turn them inside out, and use hot glue/packing tape to put them back together. If I don't have a box handy for a shop I'll do the same thing.

I would just wrap the box or, more commonly, use a piece of paper to cover up the markings. No clue why they have that rule. I wonder if anyone has asked about that in the main thread.

The Dollar Tree in my area has plain brown wrapping paper made for packages for $1 per roll. It's basically brown kraft paper. They also have boxes that were about 12x8x4 or 10x8x4 (I apologize, I do not remember the exact size) for $1 each in my store. I get a gazillion packages on a regular basis. Lots of them the only markings are the mailing label. I have plain white labels that I use to cover up markings. I buy the ones that are 1/8 of a full size sheet in size and use them as needed. I use two of them (1/4 sheet) to address a package.

They don't want any extra bar codes, haz mat markings (I have seen people try to ship things in a beer box that they are re-using for example), Fed Ex labels, etc.

I plan on wrapping any boxes in brown grocery bags if needed.

I buy the 3/$1 "lingerie" boxes at Dollar Tree as needed. Then tape a clean sheet of paper over the front each time it's re-mailed between me and my buddy.
