Scam

I saw an invitation to participate in a Walmart shop on Shadow Shopper, so I inquired about it, as it was very vague. The information that was sent was the old "We'll send you a check for you to cash and send MoneyGrams from Walmart" scheme. Three different guys are trying to get me to respond. I called Shadow Shopper, and they said anybody can post on their site. They didn't care. That's scary! How can shoppers be protected? I think I might drop Shadow Shopper.

I remember the same exact thing happening 4 years ago to me when I was just starting out.
I started a thread about Shadow Shoppers recently. This appears to be their MO. Not sure why the Mystery Shopping Association is not doing something about this!!??

This is kind of driving me a little crazy about the Shadow Shopper and the MSPA because I do not even think they are a member, here is a link to see what MSC are members. If you are going to be a mystery shopper learn your lessons and move on! I got ripped off for a month of their supposed Job Board, then I canceled it.

IMHO, membership in any organization does not exempt the organization from helping protect the industry it represents. If the MSPA only exists so paying members can use their logo; the Association has no basis for anyone to trust that a company's affiliation assures anyone of anything.

Isaiah - you finally get it! No one (probably a slight exaggeration) but you seemed to trust MSPA or to think that they are anything but a trade organization for their member companies. I am glad that you finally understand that "the Association has no basis for anyone to trust that a company's affiliation assures anyone of anything." Actually, they never asked me (us) to trust them about anything. But I still look forward to hearing how they respond when you register a complaint with them.

If it is from Shadow Shopper or anywhere else, a SCAM is a SCAM. You don't cash checks period. I don't understand why some people just don't get it.
It's very hard to believe they have over (6 million members) 6,017,440 members......tongue sticking out smileytongue sticking out smiley

Or..so they say....Considering most MSC's have between 100-400,000 shoppers....
