Regarding Hotels

Just wondered if anyone had a copy of the questions. They are interesting to me, but I've heard so much about them that I am curious.. is it worth the $$$? There are many around where I reside.

The survey questions are proprietary material, covered by our ICAs so shoppers are not free to share them. Surely a member with as much time on the forum as you have must understand the ICA limitations.

It depends upon the hotel, but I can think of only a couple that were not worth it to me. If Buckalew has any in your area, I would suggest trying one of his "easy" shops first and then work up from there. Regal has different levels (you'll know by the pay); you might start with of the lesser paying ones first. I have found that, for them, the pay level does change by difficulty. Not so with every MSC.

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.
Just a word about Buckalew.... Unless something has changed recently, they expect and require a level of shopper knowledge of Excel and will not retain any shopper that does not have this. So, if you are really comfortable with Excel, go for it. It's not like they conceal this; they are very specific before you accept a shop.

Unless you live under a rock, excel is not that particularly difficult, especially for their shops. It's not like you have to come up with the formula for the cells, you are just entering words into them.

Now, for buckalew shops, for me, the most difficult part is the insane amount of interactions, not the report.

I was not meaning that Excel is difficult, but a number of forum posters have, in the past, expressed dismay at not being able to meet this critetion, so it seemed worth a mention here.

I've written to schedulers before and asked them about the requirements of the job before applying sometimes. Not with hotels, but with other shops. Might be worth a try. I'm not sure if they will send you the guidelines or not, but they should at least be able to answer questions.
