BARE restaurant customer intercepts

"As an interceptor you would approach guests at their table and ask them to complete a survey"

Oh ya. People LOVE being asked to complete surveys while they're dining out.

Approach at their table? No way, that's rude. I have done some exit interviews years ago where I stood OUTSIDE of a restaurant and caught diners on their way out. That was tough. I guess if you are approaching them at their table they are trapped, but it's just awful and I can't imagine the client allows it! If I were a diner and interceptors came to my table, I might never go back to that restaurant again.
I saw this shop and thought it might be an exit interview. Then I noticed it was in an upscale restaurant and you bugged people at their table. Ummmmmmm......no thank you!!!!
Several years ago I conducted some surveys just like that and it was surprisingly easy. The surveys were left at the table for them to fill out at their leisure and when completed they received a gift card on the spot. Even when a customer was not interested, they were receptive to hearing my 30 second spiel. From what I recall, the pay was commensurate with the work.

Interesting! I don't think this shop is for me, but it's good to hear the perspective of someone who's done one.

Bear in mind, Bare was not the MSC, LOL. I also don't know if this is the same or a different restaurant or if the guidelines would allow leaving the survey or if the customer gets a gift on the spot. It will be easier to compare when I figure out the restaurant and the current fee.

I found the shop in a different state. It is for a different restaurant although filling out the survey appears to work the same. Without looking it up, the hourly seems about the same. Here is the huge difference to me. Outside of the time on site I only had to box up the surveys and ship them, which took probably 30 minutes at the most. These require entering all the data. The difference could drive the hourly down significantly depending on the length of the surveys and how many need to be completed.

I did one of these last summer. Mine was at a diner. Most people were very nice and once they knew they would get a coupon for a free dessert, agreed to do it. A couple of them complained after because the survey was so darn long that it took forever to fill out. I just had to get a certain number within my 3 hour window and then mail them in. Got paid $80.00 and I thought it was worth it, I would probably do another one if I could.
The fee is now $60 with the added requirement of entering the data. If yours were as long as mine, it would be a nightmare.

When I eat at fine restaurants, I don't mind filling out a quick survey at the end as long as it's presented professionally and I know they're using it to better my experience in the future... Especially if it's a favorite restaurant of mine, I wouldn't allow a 5 min. survey to keep me from coming back! I'd also rather do that then be intercepted on my way out (because I'm already ready to get to the next part of my day or night.) That's why I don't mind doing these shops -- plus the pay is pretty sweeeet smiling smiley
I would do it either just as they were seated or just finishing up. Those I missed were just missed.
