Anyone do the cell phone shop where you buy the phone?

So, I need a new phone and Market Force has just released the shops were you purchase a phone. Has anyone done this shop before? They were posted in the fall and expired one week before my contract was up! I do remember they were heavily bonused.

They were on the board for a long time with no grabs, seemed too much for me, and I just use a prepaid phone. Let us know if they are any good.
I could use a new phone, but I don't want a new carrier or a new plan. Is this the shop where you have to get both, or can you just get a phone?

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
I believe the language says you can get either a new phone or a new service plan, so I don't think you need to get both.

These got up to $125.00 here because nobody would take them. I think if you were an existing customer and wanted an upgrade, this shop might work for you. smiling smiley
I didn't look for the shop originally, assuming it was for a different carrier. Pleasant surprise for me and not worth even waiting for the fee to go up since the store in my neighborhood was available.

Wait it out. They will go up to $100 or possibly $125, and then there will be an additional $50 towards the cost of the phone and a $3 followup survey fee the following month. I did one in November for $75 because I dropped my phone. If you're not in a hurry it's worth the wait. My phone was in such bad shape I couldn't make calls or do anything with it, so I couldn't wait. You have to go with the specific carrier (which was who I had already) and either add a new line or replace your current phone with the upgrade.
No. It was easy. Very easy. Wait until it goes up to $125 unless you are having an emergency situation like I was (totally cracked screen)
IMO these are not mystery shops. They are clever ads to try and get mystery shoppers to buy a new phone or carrier.
I doubt it. There aren't enough shoppers out there to make much of a significant dent in their sales.
It's shops like this that makes me think the mystery shopping company has lost so many clients that it is so desperate to sign with any company just to be able to put shops on their board. The $13 shop fee doesn't come close to being enough to get me to buy a phone costing a few hundred bucks or letting a new provider run my credit.
Huh? $13 shop fee? You have the wrong shop. This one pays $40 right now, but will likely go up to $125 pretty soon. It works out great for someone who needs a new phone like I did.
This fits perfectly into the category of something I'm doing anyway. No credit check because it is my carrier, so the reimbursement will cover my out the door costs of the new phone while the fee is enough for the accessories. I always say the value of reimbursement is in the eye of the beholder and in mine this is absolutely a $90 shop.

I am excited about this shop. I need a new phone desperately, I am already with the carrier and do not see this as an ad. I would do it for $40 but knowing the shops went up to $125, will make me wait.
It will, it will, be patient. The next jump will likely be $75. Do you know any schedulers very well and have a phone number for them? Sometimes you can call and get help increasing the bonus, if so.
I think this is only a good deal for shoppers who already have the carrier. Those of us who are happy paying our $30/month unlimited everything and yes I have an iphone not some crappy moto-something. This isn't even worth $125 to me since the same plan under this carrier would run me $50 - $70 more a month. By the second month I've lost money on the deal. This would have to be bonused upwards of $500 to make me bat an eye at it. If you have the carrier though go for it

These just jumped up to the magic $125 in my neck of the woods.
There's a location that I can literally walk to from my house and I need a new phone, so I think I'm going to do it. I may wait another week to get closer to the "deadline" in the shop window, though, just to see if it goes up any more.

Yup, $125 here too and somebody actually grabbed one in a nearby city....

My question: Has anyone done one of these? How long did it take? Did you enjoy the shop? I am happy with my current provider so I have no need to do these or any desire...
I don't recall them going higher than $125. And yes, if you read back through the posts, you will see where I had written that I did one of these back in November. If you aren't going to do one, then you don't really want to know details about how long it took, etc.
Does it have to be an "upgrade" or can you just get a new phone? I'm thinking of doing one of these next week, I suppose if I see the guidelines and it won't work for me, I can cancel the shop. I have the carrier already and am eligible for a new phone as of last Monday. I was planning to get a new phone anyway, but I want to replace my current phone with the same model. I love my phone but after 2 years the battery life isn't what it used to be.
I just upgraded my phone. IMO, just like an oil change shop the time on site is a wash. It is going to take just as long whether I'm being paid for it or not.

In my neck of the woods, on the last round, they all got up to 125$ or so, and then they all mysteriously disappeared. If I wanted one I'd grab them now that they are $125. They may have a limited number of shops to fill and will remove the rest once they are filled.
I did one in November as well. I didn't hold out for the $125 but it was bonused. Very easy and a nice subsidy if you are in need of a phone. Just like with the other phone assignments better to go early during a less busy time. I was looking to get a back up phone anyhow. They are $125 in my area and there are still many on the board. It is tempting but I think I have enough phones now! Another MS and carrier had the ones with payment plus reimbursement of services for six months a few years ago. If this company offered to pay more of the service charges. In my case the fee and reimbursement was enough for the phone only and I went with the cheapest phone.
But you have to sign on for phone service or switch from your existing one, so what is the advantage to doing this shop?? Pre Paid plans are not allowed, otherwise I would do the shop just to obtain a back up phone. Or can you drop the service after a few months with no penalties????

Correct please if I got it all wrong...Previously, Measure Customer Perspectives was doing these shops?? Or was it only for one another provider??? Hint: A night insect...

Many Thanks
