okay marketforce that was actually funny

"There are many people at W2 jobs that have to do things like don't like..but they do it to get paid....There are independent contractors in any business (housecleaning, plumbing, dog walking, etc) that don't like aspects of the job, but they do it anyway."

You can't compare an IC to a W2 employee who does not have the latitude regarding their job duties. Just because some ICs choose to do things they don't like, as an IC we also have the option to refuse.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

I know several 20 and 30-something guys who love animation and wouldn't feel at all weird about going to see KFP3. I agree that the OP should have done the job and just left after ads if he wasn't interested in seeing the film through.

Make sure you pull in to your movie with a tinted or windowless Cargo Van or 1970s motor home in poor condition! Your funny, Kung Fu Panda 3 story made me smile, thank's!

It could be worse, your a 30 year old male or older sent to Chuck E. Cheese with a big camera around your neck wearing a "Frozen" or "My Little Pony T-Shirt", Oops!

Lisa, this shop might not be best for men going alone, too bad he did not have a nephew or kid to hang out with, funny story still!

I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong with a 25 year old male watching cartoons by himself in a movie theater... I'm 45 and I still do that!!
Its from our hypersensitive Society wanting to believe evil instead of good, sinking to the lowest common denominator. I understand why the O.P. posted their view, nobody wants to get weird looks or bad vibes while trying to enjoy a movie.

JN, from a Societal standpoint psychologically, they feel its outside the realm of normal behavior to surround yourself around children if your an adult without children there. People get weird feelings because they assume the worst or accuse people of "not acting their age" or "putting yourself in a bad place". You can find some older episode of "Law and Order 'SVU' " where the detective say's "your a grown man going to children's movies, there's something wrong in your head!".

I use to help with the mentally challenged, bringing in ten to twenty mentally-challenged adults to watch something like Cinderella was normal(nobody will give our group dirty looks). Now if two older men went to see this we all would be scratching our heads wondering "why" because of the unspoken rules of conduct.

I brought this situation up to my husband and he agreed that he would not find it strange for a single man to go to a kids' movie alone.

The majority of men that I know in their 20's and well into their 40's watch cartoons. No biggie.

People need to chill and not worry about being so PC or worrying what others think of you. Just be real. I could really give a shyt what people think of me. I know who I am and I am fine what it.
Pennies, it's a shame there's still people who still think that way, and people who give a damn about what others think. Kudos for using them as a tool to help the ones who need it. I'll continue watching cartoons if they please me and even if I go by myself to watch them smiling smiley
I have two nieces under 10 and use them for shops if I need a kid. I have even taken them out for fast casual once in a while so it looks like not a shop. I get the great uncle seal and they get some fun.
I would have said the same thing everyone is saying "just go to the movie...what is the big deal?" But I recently read this huge thread on Reddit where guys who had worked with children in various capacities (mainly elementary school teachers and daycare workers) and gotten tons and tons of harassment from MOMS (not dads) about why they would want to spend time around kids. Obviously I don't know these guys on Reddit but they were basically just saying they wanted to work with kids for all the same reasons women do- they care about kids, they care about teaching etc. But some of them had ended up quitting their jobs because they were humiliated and frustrated by the harassment. So maybe a young guy in a theater full of kids would draw attention by the moms there. IDK

On another note, I totally get not wanting to do a movie shop if you can't see a movie you want to see. I come at mystery shopping with the perks in mind, and oftentimes the pay for these type of shops is not really worth the time spent if seeing the movie is not a benefit. I do movie shops that only pay $5 on top of the reimbursement. You have to do interactions at the box office, ticket taker, and concession stand as well as report on the trailers, a theatre count, prices posted, and a few other things. Once the lights go down, the only thing I have to watch for is a theatre check. I'm married so between the ticket price and concessions, our reimbursement usually ends up around $35-40. It's not worth it to me to do anything more than a phone shop for $5, but the work required plus report is worth it for me if we can get a nice date out of it. But those reimbursements are worthless if you didn't want to see the movie in the first place.
If I was going to take young children with me to see KFP3 and I saw some guy sitting there by himself, I would be keeping a very sharp eye on him.

Hypersensitive? Maybe. But I'd rather be safe than sorry. There is so much information blasted to us all of the time whether internet, news, shows, radio - you hear the stories often enough to want to take precaution.
