Video Shopping Workshop -- is it worth it?

Quest for Best is offering a video workshop in my area next month for $125. Has anyone taken the workshop and does it pay off?

Yes, it is helpful if you are new to video shopping. If you have already done 100 or more, you may not find it worth the cost.
I assume that this is Quest For Best sending out the training information for our class. We are training in Colorado Springs on March 8th. Visit our website at www.videoshoppingpros.com for testimonials and to sign up for the class. We are filling up quickly, so if you are interested, don't hesitate. We also offer an Advanced Video Class for experienced shoppers, that information is also on our website under the Advanced Tab. Our next Advanced class is in Dallas in May at the Video Shopper Conference. See that info at www.VideoCon16.com

But the cost of the Basic Video class is $125, and the Advanced Video class is also $125. The class at IMSC being taught by Kathy at Clear Evaluations is free.

Question for walesmaven, Lisa, and other video shoppers: how does the free training by Clear Evaluations compare to this Video shopping Pros training?
Sorry, I have never attended a Video Pros class or any group class. I started video in 2005 and was given one-on-one training by the manager of a video shopping operation that has since been absorbed into a large MSC that does almost no video these days.

I know Kathy Hart very well, having spent hours talking shop with he at IMSC conferences and on the phone. She is one of those video schedulers who has done thousands of video shops, trained more video shoppers over the phone than anyone can count and is always available when a shopper in the field needs help. She is, I believe, the one that several shoppers have said they would walk over hot coals to help. Ask bgriffin, jamesbond, gordon and other active video shoppers on this forum about Kathy. Also, I mentioned her at length in a post today over on the thread about "bonding" with schedulers.

My class was through the now defunct Undercover Essentials. UE was sponsored by the major video companies at the time. I can't speak to the video seminars offered by Jeff. I had hoped to stop in when they taught one in St. Louis and missed them. I know the seminar after the IMSC is being touted as free, but shouldn't it be considered more a bonus or add on to the conference since it will only be available for those who have paid a fee to attend the conference?

Include me in the group who would walk over hot coals for Kathy. I had the pleasure of meeting her at the IMSC in Chicago. We were all happy campers when she joined Leslie and Tina. All of them understand this buisness and are incredible to work with.

I received an email from Leslie that she and Tina will be at VideoCon in Texas, as well as Sheila and other msps. I've attended IMSC and Shopperfests, but this is new and should be beneficial for me. The hotel is reasonable and a lot of meals are covered.

Everyone, I received the same email from Kathy, and in reading it once again, she is not sponsoring the video class, but teaching it. This is being sponsored by the IMSC. This may be part of the confusion from the OP that mentioned that Quest for the Best is teaching video classes as well. Keep in mind that video companies that are members of the IMSC and also are affiliated with Video Pros are advertising the industry events for 2016 by emailing shoppers within their database.

Eric, I think that you will be finding an email about this from someone on the IMSC conference committee who is apologizing for the confusion.

I just got a clarification. Kathy Hart of Clear Evaluations and Melinda Brody of Melinda Brody and Co will teach the video shopping class at the Indiana IMSC conference. Now, folks, since those two women effectively control a huge portion of the housing video shops in the Eastern US, it looks like a dynamite duo. I have attended training sessions with each of them and they are both going to be well worth the time of any aspiring video shopper!

I just realized that editing my last post to correct something did not bump this thread up to the top. So BUMP.

I want everyone to know what a great team will be teaching in Indiana!

I am confused by this thread and the multiple e-mails from various sources regarding several different video training opportunities. It is probably a null and void issue for me so time for me to move on. Have fun!
Hey Wales! I actually rec'd an IM from the IMSC a few minutes after I posted here. I've since edited my post. What I was trying to convey is that there are video company sponsors sending out emails endorsing the video classes + Video Pros (as they should), yet slight confusion as to whether they are holding different video training classes than what the IMSC & Video Pros are offering.

No worries. I look forward to further communication from video shopping companies as the industry continues to grow with this medium as we head into Indiana, Dallas (VideoCon 2016), & Las Vegas!
