Marketforce Receipt Resize Request

After many, many years of uploading receipts with MF, I just got a request to resize my receipts and make them smaller for the very first time. It's really weird! It states to keep my receipts under 1 MB. But the weirdest thing is, they already are under 1 MB. Has anyone else had this happen?

Every time I try to submit a receipt from my phone I get the request to resize. I have never gotten a request to resize when I scan them at home. But, I've got three reports to submit tonight, so I'll see if the same still holds true!
But I AM using my home scanner, so it's just so weird. I've done so many without ever having a problem before. I resized to the smallest resolution and it was accepted. I don't get it, but problem solved...
Approximately 1 out of 25 receipts I submit to MF get the message to resize them. I resize them on MF's site and haven't had any problems. I just assumed that those receipts were over 1 MB, but to be honest I'm not sure if they were. Since there hasn't ever been an issue with resizing them, I haven't paid as much attention.

I think the only time MF asked me to resize something, the resize button was right there.

I hit the resize button, it then went to "submit", and went right through.

If it had been any more complicated than that, I would have been lost!

scan them as a PDF instead of a Jpeg or other picture format. PDF will be a much smaller file size and any scanner should be able to safe a PDF file
I haven't found that to be true, Randy. I typically only use PDF to submit if it is a multi-page printout or if the MSC requires it. Also both scanners I've use (other that my phone app) have the white background, so I still need to crop out the excess white space and straighten. I haven't had a problem with resizing in a long time for MF, if ever.

Has this been an ongoing thing or just a one time where you were trying to upload a receipt? If I may suggest, log out and log back in. Three days in a row the photos would freeze in the middle of uploading for me.... I would have to cancel the uploading and do it again. I strongly suspect it is not you but a temporary clash with their system. The resize button is great. I used to resize them all through my paint program until one day I hit resize and it did it automatically. smiling smiley
If I use my phone camera for the receipt, once I download it and get the size, I'll go to one of the many resizer sites out there to shrink it down and then submit it.

If I scan it in, I scan it in as a document and not a picture. Then once I get the "preview", I can shrink it down using the guides so it just scans the receipt itself....no extra whitespace. Generally comes in well under 1MB.

I scan all MF receipts at 300 DPI on my flatbed scanner and crop before scanning. Never has MF complained about the size of my .jpg file. The site will automatically resize it.
".PDF" is much larger in size and is not a format that any MS website has a resize option for.
Why do you go through all those extra steps?

I assume your asking me. My scanner has software running in the toolbar and buttons on it. I toss the receipt in the scanner and hit the "Preview" button and it does a super quick scan and brings up the scanning software. The "Scan Wizard" software has a quick crop tool, so when I scan, it only scans the receipt area of the glass to make it faster.

As far as 300 DPI. I'm lazy and this is the default and is equal to what my lazer printer is set for on economy toner mode. I leave it set this way so it is also the fastest for when I hit the copy button on the scanner to make a quick copy.

I have never had a complaint other than Maritz with 300 DPI receipts and I think this is changing as well.
It still sounds like two more steps than may be necessary. I photograph receipts with my phone. They upload automatically and I attach them to my reports. All the scanning and even a lot of the resizing is just extra work for no more pay.

Most of my photos are over 1MB. I just upload the photo, MF states it is over 1MB with a RESIZE button. I press the RESIZE button and I'm done. I'm assuming the program resizes it automatically and not an actual person resizing my over 1MB photos? I've never been called out for it.........

The whole process takes about a minute. I can place all of my receipts for the day on the glass at once and from the scanner software crop scan them one at a time and save them in the folder on the pc as I fill out the report. Then when I have everything done, I take the 1 piece of paper with the page #1-2 of the report and staple the receipts and drop them in the receipt box in order.

Taking a receipt photo with my phone and transferring it to the PC with Dropbox, or whatever is actually more of a PITA than just setting them all on the glass at once. They also come out perfect every time with the flatbed scanner as it auto corrects the contrast for fade/light receipts.

I wouldn't know about Dropbox. I use OneDrive so they are uploaded directly to the cloud and available on whichever device I decide to use for reports.

One Drive is lowering their storage down to 5 gig from 32 gig. I just got the notice in email
Every time! I believe it's because of the high resolution on the ipad and phone cameras. I have to edit the photo and resize it, before submitting it.
