Ross Dress Audits: As "easy" as they say?

There's one open near me, and I'm tempted, but when an MSC says "less than an hour in store and 5-minute report," I get suspicious! LOL. Are they worth $16? A couple of months ago they got bonused slightly, so maybe I should wait and see if this one does.... It seems like a LOT of stuff you have to check to be able to do it in less than an hour.

I almost took a purchase and return shop at Ross, but they didn't seem worth the base fee, even though you can return right away, so you don't have to make two trips. That one got up to a very nice bonus, more than the audit did, but got grabbed before I could blink!

I did this one because it was close. I was able to get in under an hour and the report is really super easy.

Thank you! This one, while it's near me, is still about a 15-minute drive one way. But it's not far from a store I go to about once a week, anyway, so I can always time that trip with this audit. Otherwise, the additional 1/2-hour drive would, I think, make it not worthwhile. There's another Ross 5 minutes from me, but that one either doesn't get shopped as often, or someone waits at her/his computer till it gets posted and grabs it!

I have done several of these. They are super easy. Some categories are easier than others. Men's pants is the best the tags are easy to see and the size is obvious. Lingerie is the worst because you have to fish the tags out of everything and they are always twisted up on the hanger. You don't get to pick them, categories are assigned.

My first one took just over an hour. Once I got the hang of it they were about 45-50 minutes after that. The report is easy, but if you have more than seven items mis sized you do need to account for that. There was one store I did that had 11 to 18 items mis sized in almost every category. That was the longest report.
The customer service projects for Ross are much, much simpler and much less time consuming.

Yes, Men's shoes.... took me the longest time. But once I knew what I was looking for, it was much easier.

Would those be the purchase and return ones? I know many people here don't like that type of shop, but the shop guidelines for the Ross one didn't sound that bad....

Yup! Same shop. Not sure why people don't like it, but for the simplicity, time in store and time for the report, the base fee is fair and appropriate. I love to grab these with the locations in my area.

The one in my area a couple of months ago got bonused up to about $25, I think. I sure would have liked to have been faster on the draw! It does sound easier than the pricing audit. Haven't seen one since, though, but I haven't been checking the job board as often. I'll keep my eyes out for this one; thanks for the info!

For $25 bonus on top of the base fee, that's definitely a GREAT project to take on.

Done tons of both ross shops. The reports are 5 minutes at most on each. if in the area of the store both are fair pay at base rate. The sizing audits are in store 40 minutes for me at most. Once you do a few they get super easy. On the P and R ones I buy the item go out to my car take pic of receipt and then go right back in to return. Yes return 5 minutes later. Oh my wife called and said she had picked the item up this morning. I miss those as there are no ross shops near me anymore.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
Often the return transaction takes less time than the purchase. There is a separate line for returns which is often shorter than the purchase line. They seem to actually give preference to returns which I'm sure isn't their intent.

No, I meant a total of $25 (or it might have been $27 total), but that seemed very fair for what it looked like it required. But I wouldn't do one at the base fee unless it was the store a few minutes from me.

I will do them if they are bonused. I still feel shady doing them. Takes me an hour exacty. It seems like you always get one hard category.
Both of their shops are fairly easy, in my opinion, and the reports are quick. I prefer the counting audit. I have done several of them. It takes me about 30-40 minutes. Luckily, the store I shop is very good and I very rarely have to report more than 6 items in a section. With the shoe ones, I just do the lower shelf levels, if there are enough shoes. That way I don't have to pull shoes all the way off the shelf to look for the sizes. I also don't count 125 items out and then going back through them to check the sizes. That takes more time and would be more noticeable, in my opinion. I just count as I check.
Lingerie, Bras, Panties... those are the difficult categories. Luckily, you can see what the categories will be before you accept the shop. My stores always have several with more then 7 items mis-sized, so the reports take longer then 5 minutes for me. I would give yourself an hour and a half for your first audit. The purchase/return version is quick and easy.

That gave me a good strategy for the shoes.. I like the counting audit. I use my voice recorder on my phone and just mumble when something is mis-sized. But my stores are generally good. I think I've only had more than 7 in one category for 1 store.
People who live in Texas must be absolute slobs. When I do Ross sizing jobs, I rarely get categories with 7 or less mis-sized items. It's more like 25-30 per category. Shoes, especially women's shoes, can have 50-80 mis-sized. I refuse all jobs that count lingerie. Most of it is on the floor! The report take FOREVER because it is so tedious to type up what was "found" in each category. I don't know if the stores are too cheap to hire enough people, or the manager's don't care, but some Ross stores are a total mess!
