Car Shop Question

For those who have completed the two part car shop, what was your reason for the second visit?

On the first visit, you were ready to buy the car if the price was right. So why did you return?

I did the first part. That was simple.

Sunny, yes, but was that the only reason you went back? Did you tell the salesman anything else?

As I recall, this was the $75 shop done about 3 years ago. (you had to do a live conference call with a manager before the shop) I had to go back and try and get the price down. The test drive and everything else was done on the 1st part of the shop. It was more about negotiations on Part 2.
Thanks Sunny. This shop is slightly different. No test drive is required, and I start negotiating on the first visit when I want to buy the car that day.

I got the guy down $10K, and told him I was leaving to do a side by side comparison with another car I was interested in. Phone call (didn't answer) after I got home.

I have to visit the dealership again on Monday to negotiate further. Do I just tell them that I want a better price?

If the shop instructions don't provide specifics, I'd say that I like the other car in the side by side car comparison, but that I like this car (his car) a bit better. But, that the price is still the sticking point and that you're there to see if there's anything else he can do on the price to tip the scales.

Thanks Cali!

The guidelines were vague, but the hour long training was good. Unfortunately, that was not an item that was reviewed in detail.

Thanks for your suggestion; I will probably go in that direction. The shop pays $100, so I want to be thorough.
