Marketforce's Cell Phone Evaluate Service and Environment shops - Beware

I took on one of these shops and after reading the shop directions, I realized they copied and pasted some directions from their cell phone purchase shops. To be fair, purchasing a cell phone and plan would take about an hour. Visiting to evaluate an employee's sell of a cell phone and plan does not.

The directions say to arrive two hours before the shop closes, be prepared for the visit to take one hour, and you must wait for the employee to visit with you, no matter how long it takes. The fee is $10-$12.

I arrived at my shop and watched two employees bail on me 10 min. after I arrived. The last and final employee was busy with a customer for the next 30 min. before I gave up. I'll probably have to cancel this shop and take the hit.

I have done 7 of these this month so far. In every case but one I have been greeted as I walked in the door and the entire interaction has taken less than 30 minutes. At the end I have walked out with all the info concerning not only phone info on a couple of different styles of phones, and a business card, but also pricing which they have even been kind enough to e-mail to me

The reports take about 15 minutes. For me these have been a breeze.

I haven't done that many, but I've had the same experience -- every shop I've gone into, I am the only customer. Some have been good experiences, some not-so-good...but that's why they're being shopped, isn't it?
I have done one of the MF cell phone shops. It was to evaluate the associate and check the condition/branding of the store. I finished one in less than ten minutes; I didn't want it to go so quickly but it did. When filling out the report, I was asked why my shop lasted less than ten minutes. I answered honestly and my report was approved.
I was contacted by a wonderful QC person at Marketforce who helped me write up this shop. We'e both crossing our fingers that it'll be accepted.

I'll try to remember to update this thread.

Just noticed new listing in my area with a whopping $2 reimbursement.
That's the one where you try to find something in the store for $2 bucks. Assuming this company were inside a Big Box store, you could get easily get some candy. But the freestanding cell phone stores have yet to carry candy bars or potato chips. smiling smiley
