Is someone getting inside information?

At any rate, I have sent a note to the scheduler - selling myself, and hoping maybe that will get me somewhere! I'll keep you posted!

What if any response did you receive from the scheduler regarding your second request for information?

She really didn't respond other than to assign me a shop in a neighboring town. Not one I really wanted, but I'm not going to complain. It is a little further and a direction I do not usually go. But because I'm trying to build with her, I feel like this is a start. Next month I will reach out to her before the shops are assigned and see if I get any better results!
Re-reading everyone's posts again, along with mine, I think I have possibly misstated in my original post. When I referred to the shops as being "gone" in reality they were all still on the board, only they were scheduled. They were no long available for me to self assign - and they are all self assign for this company. Does that make sense? I apologize if that confused people.
Another thing to consider. First, 15 minutes can be much longer than we think. If I didn't take the 15 minute break, it would have taken me less than that to a self-assign 30 shops. At one time I liked to add mVentix shops to my routes. They were always posting them at around 7 pm my time on Tuesday nights. Despite being on the site assigning shops, some would be taken as I was assigning others. It is hard to believe, but some shops really do go that fast.

Unless you are sitting at your computer and hear the "slap" of an incoming email, you will never, ever get certain shops. Coveted hotel shops come to mind, in particular.

@klwoolsey when you say they were on the board but already scheduled and not available for self assign, what exactly do you mean? On most job boards when a job is scheduled it either disappears or (depending on the MSC) either marked as assigned or available to add as a backup shopper. Your statement confuses me because i can think of one sassie company off the top of my head that posts a percentage of the shops as self assign and the others as apply. I'm now wondering if perhaps that is the case and you are confused that the apply ones are already taken.

@walesmaven you must be working for different hotel companies than i am. The ones i work for the emails go out at least a day after they are actually posted, lol.

Bgriffin - on this SASSIE site, once a job is picked up by a shopper, it simply shows [scheduled by another shopper[ or something to that effect and the link to click on it for scheduling is disabled. There is no option to select and sign up as a back up shopper. I know what you mean and some sights do thing different from others. However when I go to that site today, the locations are no longer on the board. Only available shops show up.

Why couldn't you have self-assigned yourself to the shop the scheduler assigned you to? You did mention that these were all self-assign shops, no?

Hi ValG - It is possible that the location the scheduler assigned to me was still available on the job board. It was not in a town I would normally travel to, so it might have been available for me to self assign and she thought she was being helpful. If you do no know the area where I live, you could easily mistake the town as being close to the town I actually want to shop. To put it in perspective, it would be like living on the south side of Houston, TX and being scheduled a job located on the north side of Houston. Just because the addresses are both in Houston doesn't mean they are close together. And because she was trying to help, I will make plans to take a trip to this town and complete the shop. Fortunately a friend is having a house warming party and I can complete the assignment plus attend the party! Things have a way of working out!
If they are that close together (the same distance from one end of a larger city to the other), I would expand my search on that site to be farther out. That way you can catch large bonuses that sometimes pop up that could make it worth it.

I usually will shop within Indianapolis and Kokomo (about a 60 mile range) but if the money is right and I have time, I will go farther. I put my range to be 100 miles. It does not mean that I normally would drive 100 miles but if I then see a large bonus (like $100!!), then I would jump on it.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
I imagine gas prices are sneaking up everywhere like they are where I live, which is why I normally bundle several shops in one day! Or, like in this instance, I plan to be in a specific town for a reason. In those cases I usually look for a shop maybe two that I can do.
