MARKET FORCE: Gas station shops-your valued feedback please

Never did one before and wondered about taking the two required pics and read about shopper confrontations with owners, so, how awkward is it taking these pics??? And what needs to be photographed?? Also, do you have to pay only with a credit or debit card to prove payment ??

Not awkward to take pictures.

As stated before accepting, I believe the assignment clearly states a picture of the gas station sign and a picture of the overall station.

In the screening questions, I believe it states the payment form needed for the shop as well. Basically, cash for purchases for less than $5 for the in-store purchase, then paying at the pump if you have a card or paying in the store if you have cash.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!

I never had problems getting the 2 pictures for the mystery shop gas station. I pay for the 2 gallons either in the store or at the pump. Don't forget the receipt. Go back and get a small purchase and ask for the restroom key - again don't forget the receipt. I find this the most awkward part that screams mystery shopper but they want the receipt for .99 so gotta get it. I move the car and take the shot of the sign and overall. Takes about 8 minutes.

Oh also if you pay at the pump you have to use a card and get the receipt. If you pay inside you must use cash. I just find it easier to pay inside and use cash. Sometimes you cannot get a receipt from the credit card machine so you have to go inside anyway.

I shoot for the $0.19 Tootsie Roll or $0.25 Tootsie Pop, if they have any available.

P.S.--Can you do more than one a day of these shops??

And they will give receipts for gas paid with cash???
Would tell them it's for my expense account if challenged..

Yes.

I just ask for a receipt, even if I'm not automatically given one.

If there is a maximum gas shops a day, your guidelines would let you know. Just be aware you probably will need a different form of payment for a least two. debit card, credit card, a specific gas card or money if the credit card reader is not working. You will not know if the "credit card reader" is working if you do not try it. You do have to try it to report it as not working, in your report.

If you asked for a receipt for your $.19 TootsiePop, then you should get one. and while you are at it ask for it to be put in a bag.

I've been pretty lucky at one of the gas stations. The guy always asks me if I want a receipt!
