tips on phone call assignments

I do not know how long to wait for the subject employee to proactively give information. I have heard to "wait, wait, wait" (on this forum). Then....this is a comment I recieved from an editor - "Anne, The discussion about the rooms went on for too long and there were lots of awkward pauses. You need to proactively state that you are just looking for rates and don't want to book a room at this time; don't wait for the agent to ask after a long pause". Does anyone out there in Shopping Land have tips for me? Signed, Night Owl at 10:30 pm.

I would say to write down (if this helps you) your key points of what you need to cover. Practice saying it out loud so it sounds smoothsmiling smiley

I had to do that on a travel shop. I had to practice and listen to myself, so that I would sound wealthy and convincing enough to afford an $11,000 vacation. smiling smiley

You would be surprised at the flawless delivery you are capable of, if you just practice first!
