Medicare shop cancelled

Today I received an email from the MS that does a lot of these. I had accepted the job and today the email says it is cancelled. This is the third one in a row that this has happened. I can guarantee I'll be sent an email for some other obscure shop that they are desperate to fill. I'm not understanding why they keep cancelling them and I'm tempted not to apply for anymore. Anyone have this experience or know why this is happening?

There are many variations of Medicare shops from stopping by a card table set up in a grocery store to seminars to setting up an appointment with a particular agent. Since we are not near 'open enrollment', I have to assume yours is setting up an appointment. This is also the time of year when many agents add or delete companies they plan to represent for the Medicare contracts for the coming year. An independent agent friend decides each year which companies he plans to sell based on what he feels will be most appealing to his customers and only now is he getting any hints of what the products will be. Typically the information about plans for 2017 will not be available to the public until 10/1/16, but at that point the agents need to have finished their training on the product. I mention all of this because short of an agent being an employee of a particular company, everything is still very much in flux so the information getting to the MSC will be very much in flux as well. I would take the cancellations with good grace that it was not personal. If the same behavior was happening with other types of clients or continuing after Oct 1 I would find a different MSC to work with.
I should have mentioned that it is a formal event.

Thanks Flash for all the info. I just hate clearing my calendar and then having this happen. I don't think it has to do with me as all my Medicare shops have been received well.

Since we are not mentioning the specific client (such as Blue Cross, Humana etc) can anyone suggest some msc companies who do these? I am soon to be in the market myself so I may as well get paid to go listen to them.
Thanks.
Now that you have mentioned specific clients, the msc companies that do that type of shop should not be mentioned in this thread. While MSC A may do Blue Cross in one market, if someone mentions MSC A because in their market Blue Cross is handled by MSC B, there still is the potential for unintended ICA violations.

Around early to mid September the job boards will begin to fill with Medicare opportunities. These are likely to be in the form of seminars and you may be able to do one per client, one per agent or multiples. Advantage plans seem to have the most seminars by far. The seminars and such will continue from about Oct 1 to Dec 7 with actual open enrollment being Oct 15-Dec 7.
That is implicit with any shop. And the cancellation can be on the part of the shopper or the MSC. With the MSC it could be caused by the client or by some internal quotas. It generally is not a huge issue in this business but it is one of the vagaries of the business.
I wasn't mentioning specific clients because i have no idea which clients are shopped. I was just mentioning that no one in the thread mentioned specific clients . I am definitely not asking who does those specific clients. I really do not care who the client is, just which msc do Medicare shops for any client. You do not in any way have to link any client to the msc.
SandyF - Once clients get mentioned in a thread, no one is permitted to mention any MSCs. If you had not given any examples of Medicare insurance providers, then people might have been willing to list MSCs.

Shops with designated reps can and do cancel often. Part of the game. But in fairness to the shoppers there should be a disclamier.
I have a formal one scheduled for tonight. So far it hasn't been cancelled. I had an informal one cancelled last week. The agent had about 10 locations listed. He apparently cancelled the location I had chosen. It is infuriating. I hope my formal one tonight turns out like the last one. I was the only one to show up. Therefore, I didn't have to sit through the presentation and still was paid in full.

I applied for some about a week ago and haven't heard anything yet., I think the MS company just fell into a black hole somewhere. They have a tendency to do that.
