My new favorite shop...

The other day, I had the most fun with a shop yet...It was a car rental for which I got reimbursed for up to $250 for the one-day rental, picked the car up with a full tank of gas and returned it empty (reimbursed).... I spent less than 15 minutes at the shop (combined pick up and return) and less than 30 minutes on the write-up.... I also got paid $40. So... I spent all day driving a convertible Camaro while running a long route.... Yup, I'd do that one again...

I'd love to do that! Since you didn't name the client could you please tell us the MSC?
I did that shop this weekend also....drove the biggest most expensive Mercedes over the weekend. I ended up getting 250 miles on the car in one 24 hour period. Did you get all gas covered too BEYOND the $250? I've emailed the MSC 3 times asking about it since I was following the shop directions and have not heard back. I had $120 in gas charges which was ALOT more than I expected. Too bad you can only do this shop ONCE ever, because I would totally do again if everything is reimbursed (shop requires you are a NEW customer to the rental agency).
I live near an airport so hopefully I will see it on my job board one day. That sounds great to run around doing your shops in a rented car and get paid for doing it.
I did not go over $250 with the gas reimbursement and have seen no problems, so far....
My location was in the downtown area, so not near an airport at all.... My understanding is that the first handful of these were "trial" runs that the client and MSP were putting together before launching a full program, so, if they all went well, I would guess that we'll see a lot more of them in the near future. Looking at their website, it looks like the client has better than 100 stores nationwide (spread for sea to sea) and many others across the globe. So, there will likely be opportunities for a lot more folks.

I just got assigned this shop. I'll be flying into the airport and picking up the car. Unfortunately the guidelines state the maximum reimbursement for the rental, including taxes and fees, is $175.00, but the cars in the categories the client stipulates be rented begin in the upper $200.00's for the location I will be picking up the rental car from. I've emailed the scheduler asking how to proceed. Haven't received a reply yet.

Also, the guidelines state that the categories from which to rent from are LCAR, PCAR, and XCAR, but then mentions other cars that are acceptable to rent, yet their categories are XSAJ, PTAR, XTAR, LTAR, etc. Emailed the scheduler for clarificationand received the reply, "Follow the instructions."

Anyone else complete this assignment and run into the same issue(s). Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Prof, when you rent the car, if you get a partial tank of gas, ask for a car with a full tank. They may give you a free upgrade, and you can meet your limits.

That's one of my pet peeves when I rent a car. They give me a car that is under the fill line by 6/17s, but I bring it back with a full tank.
