Opinions please...should I do this shop?

The other day I signed up for a valet parking shop at an upscale mall. I applied and it was assigned to me. I chose today (Monday). I looked at the guidelines and there's a yellow note that states "Wednesday, Thursday or Friday." I've emailed the scheduler but haven't heard back yet. Would you still complete the shop if you haven't heard back? If I did it, I'd be out approximately $10 of my own money if the shop is rejected.

I'd hate to flake, so I'm hoping the msc responds before I do the shop this afternoon.

Do not do it. If you perform the shop on a day that is contrary to the guidelines (even if you were allowed to self-assign on that day), you will not be paid or reimbursed. You have found a contradiction in the directions. It is not a "flake" if you have a legitimate question about the directions and the MSP does not get back to you. 99% of all schedulers will work with you on this.

I am not surprised that they have not gotten back to you yet - many schedulers take weekends off. However, it might be a good time to call the MSP and ask for clarification over the phone.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
If it is through a reality company then if you used the Help/Contact on sassie it might not get to the scheduler. If it is through the scheduling sassie company then look for an email. They generally respond.

If the days are restricted and you do not do them during one of the days, you won't have an argument if it is rejected.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

Thanks. It's through Reality Based Group but the scheduler is through Summit. When I hit the "contact" button, it has the scheduler's name from Summit. I'm sure she'll respond, I only emailed her this morning, but I was planning on going around 3 PM, so if I don't hear back by then I'll just have to cancel the shop.
You won't get paid for the wrong day. They're likely shopping the integrity of particular valets who only work W-F.

I agree with the majority to not perform this shop on a day that is not listed in the guidelines. Dealing with a third-party scheduler can be a PITA at times. Some of them just don't respond to emails in a timely manner or at all. If you don't hear back from the scheduler soon, I would contact the MSC directly. They need to know when a third=party scheduler is leaving you hanging.
Well, that sucks. I heard nothing from the scheduler, so I did not perform the shop. I left the mall at 4:30. At 5:45 PM I finally receive an automated e-mail from the scheduler. changing the due date! I cannot do the shop later in the week. This location is an hour from where I live. I could only do it today. I wish schedulers would check their e-mail more frequently. Now I look like a flake sad smiley
Send the scheduler a detailed email laying out all the information as you presented it here. If (she?) pegs you as a flake it's her loss.

I would email her and tell her the situation. If she is the type that you would want to work with, she would cancel it or adjust the date without any problem. If not, and it will affect your record, time to go higher.
I doubt that you'll be branded a flake with Summit if you provide the information here. They are very easy to work with and accommodating. I'm surprised that the scheduler isn't writing you back. The ones I have dealt with are quick to respond. You could write to the head of Summit (judith@summitscheduling.com) and let her know that (a) you need to drop the shop, and (b) her scheduler isn't getting back to you. Make sure you have a title in the email that gets attention -- NEED TO DROP SHOP #xxxx or something like that.

Bubba what are you babbling about? If the OP did the shop on the wrong day they won't get paid. That's not fear, that's common sense. Integrity has nothing to do with fear. As far as the OPs concern goes, I am pretty sure it's about not wanting to inconvenience the MSC. And, those of us who are serious about our profession do want to have a good record and not be judged as flakes when that is indeed not the case. YOU move on.
You are not wrong on that one. I had a family emergency-- father had deep vein thrombosis in the leg (artery clot!!!!) and then that set up pulmonary embolisms (lung clots!) in both lungs and in the lobes. He was on quadruple the usual dose of blood thinners and under observation in a progressive care unit receiving scans of organs to watch for clot movement and protect his heart etc. I emailed a scheduler asking to move a shop date. I emailed four times, used the help feature, emailed the company it was through, and even called twice to no reply. I responded to every email and replied to all the automated ones as well about the due date coming up to no avail. Less than 24 hours after the shop was due, I get an email from the scheduler asking questions and being somewhat nasty. I sent forwards, attachments, and asked why they chose to ignore my emails and they did not reply to that either. I'm not sure I'm going to work with this company again, or at least not that scheduler in my town. Hardly worth the $12 hardware shop for a scheduler who didnt care to reply. :/ That being said though, there are some EXCELLENT schedulers. I have one through MSI that I flippin' love! Dude is awesome.
