Using naughty language in reports?

Hi gang!

So I had a car dealer use some pretty nasty language today. He was describing the road side assistance to me today and I quote:

"...so when you ever break down, get a flat tire -- or anything, all 'ya gotta do is just call them up and tell them to come get your sh*t."

He also used the F word on me as well....

How do I write this? Do I add in the word completely? Censor it? It needs to be stated in my report though, as it's important, and unprofessional behavior.

Thank you mucho!

"So when you ever break down, get a flat tire (profane word) or anything..."

I would definitely not include the word verbatim or censor it, I would just quote what he said and insert (profane word) in parentheses just like that.
I would ask the MSC. Several months into my MS career I had an instance where associates were cussing up a blue streak on the sales floor. Thinking it would be better not to include exact quotes, I submitted something similar to what was suggested. Two months later the MSC came back to me because the client didn't want the censored version.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
If you quote what was said verbatim the MSC can use your quotes as is or censor them without asking you for additional information. On the other hand, if you censor the words yourself they certainly do not have the option of adding in the words without contacting you for clarification. This seems like a time when providing more info upfront might save you work.

Mystery shopping around Georgia.
Called - she suggested just writing in "S H * * " and also said, "The editors will get the hint."

lol

Alrighty then. Will do. grinning smiley
If there's a comment box in the report for the MSC, I note it there. If not, I include the profanity in my report. So far, so good.
An apartment manager referred to residents as "shxx" on one of my visits. I wrote the word out. It was also an audio recorded shop, so the client was going to get it any way. Besides, my biggest concern was alleviated: I had plenty of evidence.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
I'd write what was written and let the editors be editors. We're all adults. Nobody is getting fired because you wrote @#$%&. Except maybe the guy who said it in he first place.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
This reminds me of a guy at work who was pulled into the office and told he was using profane language. He was told to stop immediately. He said, "What the F*** are you talking about? I'm not saying any Stupid A** bad words!" tongue sticking out smiley
If the company truly wants a valid accurate customer report they will accept the words intact. They should want an accurate report, not a filtered one.
LOL! Sounds like A Big Labowski moment!

I have quoted it exactly, even though I wince when typing out some of the words. The reason is that what is considered slang vs. swear differs. It might be acceptable to the client for someone to use one word and not another.

Would it be considered Jargon?
