GFK-grocery store audit for shop fee $110? Look up to 800 items.

Hi. Has anyone done this type of shop before? Just want to get a feel of this type of shop. GFK sent an email for grocery stores where no drug or background test were required. Need to look for items and enter prices onto reports. The shop may take a couple of days to complete.

There is another thread on this. You need access to a military base. I do, but price checking that many items not for me.
I did a price check audit for a different MSC that paid $125 and was 2,000 items. It was supposed to only take 4-5 hours but it took 9. This one did not involve taking any photos. I had to write down the price of the items and transfer it to an Excel sheet on my computer later. I wouldn't do one again.
Okay, thanks everyone for your feedback. I was debating whether to do the shop or not. I won't be doing it after all.
I understand the tediousness of this, but I honestly would snag it up in my area even for 9 hours of work one time. I get so few shops, even signed up for almost 100 companies. The nearest city is 2 hours of interstate driving at 70mph, not close at all! Most of our roads are one lane, no line roads with minimal restaurants and areas around. There are some "towns" that folks call cities that are about 1 hour away, but those have very little too. I occasionally get a grocery shop, a red hat shop, and a cookie shop or yogurt shop. When I was on vacation, I did nearly 70 shops in the 2 weeks I was gone near the coast. Now that I'm back home, I pick up 2 shops a week for an earnings of $100 or less a month. Buuuuuut I get those puppies while I can grinning smiley

Thank you! I will NEVER do this one. tongue sticking out smiley
Yes. I did it in 2 days. It was tedious. Part of that time was the data entry on my computer at home.

I don't know what is more excruciating:... An abscessed tooth or the report you did! tongue sticking out smiley
Try the department store chain audits first. I haven't done one for quite awhile, but they were a mild 200 items for about $40, and took about 2.5 hours. I was so stressed, I couldn't sleep for 2 days, so swore off them for good. 800 items would take at least 9 hours, and pay about $12 an hour? Nope.

Edited to add: It wouldn't be $12 an hour, because there is studying time, driving time, waiting for assistance and verification time at the site, and then reporting time. You're working for minimum wage.

Well, crud. I wish I would've checked here first. I just offered to take one to try it out. It's revealed so I figured it would be shorter. Why couldn't you just enter them straight into Excel?

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.
Let us newbies know how it goes. I figured 800 items, needing both regular and sale price written down, then entering the two prices in excel would be 800 x 4 entries. So that is 3600 entries for 800 items.

I would have taken one, but they are not close to home. Plus, excel and I do not get along. I can type words fast.. just not numbers.

It would be cool if they had a barcode scanner app, then enter sale price.
Password, mine was covert, so I had to try to be discreet and couldn't have a large device like an Pad or laptop. I had to enter both the regular retail price and the sale price for each item, so trying to enter it into the Excel form on my phone would have made me crosseyed. Also, the items were organized logically for whoever put together the form, but the store didn't have all of the items grouped together in the same way so I had to leave one area and walk to another part of the store to get those prices, then return to the other area to continue pricing items on that page. Several store associates came into the aises while I was entering information and I folded the bundle of pages and put it in my jacket pocket (it was winter thank goodness) each time before they saw what I was doing. I put some stuff in my grocery cart to make it look like I was shopping. Revealed is probably going to be much easier for you since you don't have to hide what you are doing, and you could prop up a laptop on top of a shopping cart and enter the info directly. Still, standing on your feet for a long time is tough. I hope it goes quickly for you!
I picked up a commissary in my area. SInce commissaries do not have store brands that cuts the workload by a LOT. I only have to record national brands - not store brands. Also the commissary I frequent is relatively small and I KNOW where most things are becaause I shop there all the time. So it is worth it to me. I would not be so keen to do a larger commissary or one that I was not familiar with. Since commissaries are not covert, I called the manager and she even agreed to let me do it in the wee hours of the morning before they open! - even better: no crowds. Since they have a night crew, I can get in and do it at zero dark thirty. I WOULD not recommend doing your shop on a weekend when it is crowded- or in the evening. Get there early and get it done. .
yes I would love to be inviteed to shopping store n bowling green ky that all I ask please and I like shopping to so any kind of shopping store iam the men think larry
I was asked to learn the training...job states 9 hours work and of course MSC says it;s easy. I declined, audits not for me, and I know it. I see this as tedious work on your feet for hours. The $ sounded great, but they said you could have 2 days, which tells me it's a long job.

Live consciously....
