restaurant timings app?

I thought I saw a post related to this a few weeks ago but can not find it using the search feature, so I apologize if this has been talked to death already! Is there a particular app that is helpful to keep restaurant timings? I currently just write it all down as I go but I am afraid it may look a bit odd. Thank you in advance for your time!

I don't have the app (I should get it ....), but I use the notepad feature on my iPhone. I just type it there. It looks like I'm texting or just playing with my phone.

SoCalMama - Thank you for your response! That is a good idea. Plus it alleviates worry concerning apps crashing. I do worry about that!

Hmm, not sure I agree with that Mama. although I might become more efficient i don't have to type anything and rely on my memory of 2 minutes ago to type something in, esp in a restaurant where the server might be standing right there talking to me for minutes. Occasionally I am asked for timings to the seconds and I can easily do that using my voice recorder. I once practiced at home so I could just bookmark the time without looking to save having to listen thru the recording but my recorder evidently turned upside down in my pocket and when I hit the right button if it had been right side up it started to replay the recording. Perhaps that made me unprofessional but personally I do not think it is professional to be playing on your cell phone while at a nice dinner or even when you sidle up to the counter because it is your turn. Both of these methods have down sides to them. But I am staying with my recorder...I know everyone loves their cell phones but I am old school and doing quite well. (Cannot do the Blaze app order shops though and that makes me sad. )

I haven't done a restaurant shop, but the timer on your phone's clock app won't do?

Depends on your needs and what devices you have.

If you have a basic smartphone, just use the built-in stopwatch and use the lap feature. Take notes on which times account for what on your phone.

If exact times are needed, as in the actual time (e.g. 3:51 PM MST), then just screenshot the actual clock on your phone. Each screenshot of your clock serves its purpose. Both Android and iOS have analog clocks with a seconds hand to help you account for actual times for those projects that require it.

I simply bring an old phone with Smart Voice Recorder installed and turn the screen off. As I get out of the car I start recording, place the phone to my ear as if making a call "I at Sizzler on Market street and its 12:34:56." I make comments to my guest "Our waiter Tom looks just like Bill with short black hair and glasses." I get exact quotes and timing is a simple matter of math.

I have been a Mystery Guest at many restaurants for 10 years. Some of you overreact about I pad, I pods, you name it. I am old, guess what I do? I have a note pad that measures 3 x 5. I have a pen attached. I note down all of the times, seating , hostess, server, team, whatever. I can remember what I ate, how attentive the Server was, how the food tasted, etc. Names are on their uniform, manager has no name tag, you don't need the name of the greeter. Host name you do need and how she escorts you to a table. EASY!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. While I try to rely on memory, I typically do these shops with my 3 year old so I appreciate the memory jog certain apps can supply.

When performing grocery shops and fast-casual restaurants, I use a digital watch for timings and screen shot my entry and exit times. This has been helpful but there are more timings in my latest shops and I dont want to lose my pay because I forgot/lost/missed a timing.

I have also had some shops require that I only use my phone, not paper at all. I can't record in my state.

I found the shop-it app quite helpful!!

If you're taking a 3 year old with you, you're basically bringing along the perfect reason to help you cheat

Hello coloring books that mommy helps with, games and paper work books, and such. If you can stand colored pencils or crayons when taking notes PERFECT. Plus, you can bring your own "coloring book" and color with your 3 year old at the table.. and by color I mean flip to a back page and write all the notes your heart desires in sexy green crayon.

Warning: people like kids and coloring and cute things so it's possible someone will come over to see what you guys are coloring. Try to color a little too as you can... or have some pages precolored
