No pay

I did a shop. I went in to check the status and the pay was at 0.00 and a 1 was the rate. I never received any feedback and have never gotten anything below an 8 and ALWAYS been paid. II email the scheduler and help desk for a week, nothing. I finally call the office and they say I left out info in my narrative. I had the info, word for word but forgot to type that sentence. She puts it back, I wrote the sentence needed. Submit. The next day... It's 0.00 again and no one will answer emails or phone. The scheduler is refusing my calls and emails. What do I do?

It sounds as though that sentence you omitted was super critical and enough so that they can not or will not accept the shop. Unless you wish to antagonize, move on.

Different companies and different clients have different requirements, some are more flexible than others. When your shop was initially rejected because of the missing statement, it may have been immediately assigned to another shopper who has correctly performed and reported it, so of course they have an obligation to pay that shopper. They should not need to pay two shoppers because of your omission.

They may have contractual time restraints of reporting shop results to the client within a given number of hours of the visit. Sending your shop through editing twice may have exceeded that number of hours so your shop could not be used.

One major MSC no longer allows any change to a shop once submitted. It is like an 'on/off' switch that it is acceptable and paid or it is unacceptable and trashed.

It really does not matter which MSC you are dealing with, you are obviously not going to be paid for this shop and they don't wish to discuss it further, so move on.
I agree with Flash 100%. It seems like there has been a recent influx of new shoppers/new forum members who are having their shop reports declined due to missing an important part of the shop. Receiving a low score and not being paid for your shop are the consequences for doing incomplete work. Look at it as a learning experience and don't make the same mistake in the future.
If info is missing, the ethical practice is for the MSC to contact the shopper and ask to clarify.....and once it is corrected accept the shop. Its not your fault they ignored you for a week. I had a pizza shop rejected even though I know I did it right...but since I was sick of the pizza, I never logged back on to that MSC for months..and never realized it was rejected as they did not email or contact me to ask for any clarification...I do check my spam....

Not following up on one's completed shops either by checking the website, checking email or checking for V/M messages is not a professional way to be running one's business.

There is nothing ethical or unethical about an MSC contacting or not contacting a shopper to clean up their mess. It is their option to do so, not their obligation. They are not your mother so you need to clean up after yourself.

One might also say the ethical practice would be for the shopper to complete and review her report before submission to be sure it is complete. That would be a professional practice, but it would be an incorrect use of the word "ethical," just as your post incorrectly uses the word.

It's unfortunate that the shopper neglected to submit complete information in her report. It is too bad she did not get the opportunity to add the information, but whether the MSC contacted her to give her a second chance or not is certainly not ethical or unethical.

Mystery shoppers are expected to be professionals and submit all required indformation in their reports. Mystery shoppers do make mistakes and sometimes editors can save them by asking questions, correcting spelling/grammar, and asking for more information. Although many MSC editors do contact shoppers to help correct reports, the MSC's failure to babysit her when her report was lacking something major does not make them unethical.

@Charmfire, I'm sorry to hear you got caught in a reporting error and are having difficulty. I sympathize with you. My advice is to chalk it up under Mistakes I Have Made, and move on. Use it as a learning experience. We've all done something ourselves that we could have done better.
I understand. I take responsibility for my mistake. My initial issue was the 0.00 pay with no information as to why. But yes, lesson learned. Mistakes are made. Re-read several times!
@Charmfire, thanks for taking responsibility for your mistake. I bet you won't make that same mistake again. smiling smiley

I wish some other forum members would also learn from their mistakes and stop posting inaccurate information and outright lies in this forum. Ah, wishful thinking.
Contact your state attorney generals office and file a complaint against mystery shopping company or contact the better business bureau where the shop company is located
All of you need to lighten up. To strange.

I'm sorry that happened to you but let me say it won't happen to you again! I am still a fairly new shopper but as of this month, I have completed close to 580 shops this year. A lot came natural to me because I was a professional for myself shopper. My first 30 days, I learned not to accept low paying shops unless I really had a great reason for doing so. Out of 580, I have had one shop that I did not get paid. Some things that you will experience are simply lessons learned that will makes you even better. When I submit a report my goal is (1) NOT to see the report again so I make sure to include all of the requirements. (2) review them to be sure those items are included and (3) My final goal is to be paid. Trust me this will not happen to you again but I hope it was a small fee.

I am waiting for the next exciting opportunity!
If it makes you feel better, I recently had a shop rejected; because I didn't do it right.

I knew the shop was wonky. All I had to do was leave & call my scheduler. She's always available.

It's the only time I've haven't called her when I had a bad feeling about a shop. And it came back to bite me.

Lesson learned, call that scheduler when life gives me lemons and I'm not sure how to make lemonade.

It was a slap upside my head in the learning experience. Have to move on and hopefully never make the same lame mistake again.

Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning; the devil shudders...And yells OH #%*+! SHE'S AWAKE!

Or call Beyoncé; she knows how to make lemonade!
