Save-a-lot audit HELP!!!

So, I got a call yesterday from the MS company that does Save-a-lot audits. I have enjoyed doing their bank shops so I thought, why not. I asked for a bonus ($10) as it was a bit of a drive. Now, after looking at all the steps, I am thinking that $10 was not nearly enough! To make it worse, before looking at the directions, I signed up online for another one in my area as my husband informed me that the first one is not in a great neighborhood. I figured I would practice at a better location first so I could be quicker at the second one. Now I don't care to do either one. Do you really have to print over 30 pages to do the audit each time? With all those pictures, that's a lot of ink. It would be much easier if you could do it on your phone. Secondly, it said you have to rename each photo! Really? I just use my iPhone to take pictures and never had problems before. I don't even know how to do that...is it really necessary?!? I can't believe the fee is $10 for thus shop!!!
Please help!!!! I'm ready to call them and say that these jobs are not for me. BTW, I have never done a revealed audit, only mystery shops or ones like EasyShift, FieldAgent, and GigWalk.

I do them only when bonused for $20 each and only if they are within 15 miles. It is a lot of paper and ink, yes. Send the photos to your computer (email) and download and rename them there. f I were you I would do them because you committed to doing so. Let it be a learning experience and next time wait until they are bonused.
I don't print anything unless a signature is required. Even then, I only print the signature page. If needed, I show the authorization letter to the manager using my tablet.

These stores are rarely going to be in "great" neighborhoods as they want to be near their target market and be convenient to them. Once you get the hang of it, it is an easy audit to do but it will always be time consuming and I do agree that base fee is too low. This is a shop you take on an otherwise slow day for yourself. You've made a commitment, please honor it, and just don't do it again if you don't like it.
Or do you bring a clipboard? Really appreciate a visual of how this should be conducted. Thanks!
I have created my own check-list style paperwork to bring in that reminds me of everything I need to look for. I've done this with most shops I will do regularly.

I would suggest when you do this for the first time, to bring the entire 38-page packet with a clipboard. If you don't want to print it out twice, use black ink for one store, and blue ink for the second store.

I've never done the report on the phone, not sure if its even possible.
Just print out the original paper work once. You are auditing the same thing in both stores. The cover page is the only page I print out. Because you need the "Secret code" to report the shop. It is your first SAL shop so maybe you can print out, but 38 pages is 38 pages times 2. 76 pages. So, no for printing out that many pages. You are also looking for the same thing in each department so create a cheat sheet. And don't forget the restroom. good luck. None in November yet in my area. Maybe its true, but I'll wait in see.

or blue and red ink as @tcurione suggest.

To rename photos, just right-click and click "rename." You don't NEED to print out to see the debrief code; just click on File>Print Preview, and the code will appear for you to write it down. If you are only doing 2 or 3 of these audits, just use a pen with different color ink for each one. Print double sided to save paper. This audit is pretty much standard for all audits for this company. Don't forget to resize your photos to 640x480. This shop will take between 60-90 minutes if done correctly, including the mystery portion. No, I would not even consider it if I were only getting $10.
I just finished the first one and I was glad I had the paperwork with me. There is s definite repeating pattern to the paperwork so I know I could do it faster next time. I'll change the ink color. If I decide to do another one, I would most definitely ask for a better bonus. Any tips on resizing photos? When it says to attach the photos (to send to my email) in small, medium, large or actual size, what should I select? Thanks for your help!!!
Hmmm, IDK about the resizing thing. I would guess medium? Do the guidelines state anything about pixel size for photos? It's been a long time since I did one and I always used my digital camera. I bet those forms are the same as they have been for a very long time. If you plan on doing these often and the MSC is keeping the client, you could always laminate pages and use a dry erase marker to reuse the form over and over again. That's if you decide to keep doing them and the MSC is for sure going to keep the client and the program.
Do you have MS Paint? That's an easy way to resize your photos. You can do it by percentage or pixel.

I do thir bank shops. I don't resize my pictures.

If you are taking the photos with a camera, look into your setting and see if you can change your image mode to 640x480. This size is also good for many other MSCs photos. I don't take pictures for shops on my phone. I don't know if that setting is in there.
@JASFLALMT-------->a cheat sheet is kind of good. Each depart as the same requirement more or less. A small 8x11 excel sheet is goodsmiling smileysmiling smiley
The phone settings are odd. I just completed my first hotel shop for Coyle, and I took photos with both my phone and my camera. The MSC requested that the images be resized to 480x640, but with my phone photos, the lowest it would go was 480x853. I couldn't resize to 480x640 as that setting doesn't exist on my phone. It must be due to the shape of the camera lens on the phone. there is probably some way to make it work when resizing on my computer by cropping or something, but the MSC said it was fine. My camera doesn't even have settings that low; the lowest image I could set it to was 1200x1600. I was able to resize those on my computer to 480x640.
Any setting on your cell phone that is equal to 4:3 can be quickly reduced to 640x480 with any graphics app.
Yeah...I'm limited on memory. No more apps until I get a new smartphone. The MSC just didn't want 62 huge photos uploaded to the report and said 480 x 853 was fine.
When you shop for your new phone, be sure to get an Android with expandable memory. Do lots of cell phone shops and play with the demos first.
I did one of these shops and was almost in tears by the end. Due to all the problems, I had to resize, rename and download over 50 photos. It should have been more but I stated I only took one photo of each type of meat that was expired instead of every package. The shop took me over four hours not including prep time. After seeing that store through the eyes of an auditor, I will never shop there again. I saw gross things I can never un-see.
1) These shops are extremely repetitious and could easily be completed by printing a one page cheat sheet and the LOA. I have it memorized and just use voice to text on the notepad on my phone.
2) The more you do, the faster it goes. Mine take 30 minutes for a good location, and 50 for a bad.
3) Complete the survey by the flow of the store. Mystery shop with cashier section, exterior, entry, produce with required photo, meat with required photo, smoked meat, dairy, frozen, bakery, grocery, signage, restroom.
4) You don't have to rename the photos.
5) You don't have to resize the photos, but they'll upload so much more quickly that it's worth resizing. Use PixResizer - free and it resizes 100 4Meg photos to 640x480 in under ten seconds.
6) Keep in mind that you only submit a single photo of each deficiency per report section. If there's 15 outages in grocery, you only need to take and submit one photo showing the most outages that you can fit in one photo. I take two different outages photos per department, and one photo of each expired product in the store, just in case. For a bad store, I'm still only submitting about 12 photos. For a good store, just two or three photos.

You didn't rename the photos and they didn't complain?
They've never complained once out of the 200+ shops for this client that I've done (or out of the 3,000+ shops for other clients that I've done for this MSC.)
