Hardware Shop scheduler doesn't add up

"You will be reimbursed up to $1 for a small purchase of your choice PLUS you will receive a $12 shopper pay for successful completion of this shop! PLUS $5 BONUS to make total pay $17!"

This is from a scheduler email. Probably not thinking of the expense, but then don't include it in this line.

I equate the pay to the fee for the shop. So the total pay or fee is $17. Plus there is a reimbursement of up to $1. I don't find the email misleading.

I agree. Not misleading to me at all. With the bonus, the total PAY for the shop is $17.

As stated "You will be reimbursed up to $1 for a small purchase of your choice PLUS you will receive a $12 shopper pay for successful completion of this shop! PLUS $5 BONUS to make total pay $17!" I think it is correct.

I applaud them for separating reimbursement from the pay.

I hate when a subject line reads "$13 Pay for this shop!" Then when you read the email, you learn the pay is actually $5 and $8 is reimbursement for a required purchase. Yes, total compensation is $13, but the pay is only $5.
One can assume this means exactly what it says: "To make your total pay $17!" They are saying this is what you will receive, if you complete a successful shop. They aren't going to say $1 +$12+ $5. I don't see that the description is "misleading."

Now, if they said, "$150 for Mall Shop!" and then you read that you must visit 15 mall stores in the mall for $10 each (true shop actually ).... you can still see their angle. It still tells you what you will receive. I don't find it misleading either because you will receive $150 for successful completion of shopping 15 stores in the Mall. It's just a shortened version.

Finally, the average mystery shop (unbonused) pays between $10 and $15. So, you know when you read the email, if you see an "IKEA shop for $75!" (as example) then you are going to work your behind off for the money..... It's just common sense to me. smiling smiley
