Test drive a car. Made a small dent.

Has anyone had an accident while test driving a car on one of their shops? Does the dealership have insurance on this type of thing?

Yes, the dealership does have insurance but it is a heavy deductible ($2500) for example. They will and can collect first on your insurance if you wreck.
The Dealership always asks if you have Ins. and my bet is it will come out of yours.....driver beware.
While doing my Testla drive I was worried, as it is a different car to drive, but all went well, except
that i couldn't buy it.

It is a case by case situation and may also depend on state laws. Was the sales associate with you or did you sign an Assumption of Liability and drive alone?

What happened at the time of the accident as well as afterwards in regard to sharing of your insurance information, police involvement, etc...

Did you negotiate the Tesla shops? Their pay is not really good if I compare to the luxury brands and what other companies pay.

Tesla first offered $30.00 and I said I'll do it for 75.00, she said o.k. Good thing, close to 4 hours work with being there 2 1/2 hours.

Thank you! I did the same job for $50 but lesson learned. I will be careful next time.
They were bonused to $300 in Indianapolis.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

I have done probably 300 car shops over the past four years. No one has ever asked me if I have insurance. Most of the time they don't ask for a driver's license.

I was going to say that maybe it is a regional thing. However, I too live in So Cal.

I haven't done 300 Dealerships, however, everyone I have done, i was asked and a copy of my Drivers license
was made.

I didn't find Tesla to be too difficult. The best part is that there is no negotiation. The price is set. The test ride was the bulk of the time and that was fun.

They have upsells on everything, it is not the base price of $66,000, everything is seperate, and it took 40 minutes for her to go through it all. No negotiation, so that part was easy, it just took time which is worth $$.
Great cars and a fun drive, but a two hour drive for me.
