Yes, they made huge profits--record breaking--just as they have quarter after quarter while pump prices have stayed high. They make those profits by being large enough that they can browbeat suppliers such as the MSPs to give them a good deal on their shops. And while the shops stay at places like the MSP that has them, the prices shoppers are paid will be low. I shopped them this month--for $20 per shop. I won't do 'routes' in hopes of picking up an extra buck or two, but when all the newbies that grabbed them for $4 flake, I'm still here to 'help out' at $20. smiling smiley If you want to make a profit on Exxon/Mobil, buy the stock. It is ticker symbol XOM. Currently trading at about $86 per share and pays about a 1.6% dividend. The stock itself has grown just a little under 14% in the past 52 weeks. But I expect to see profits go down and share price to go down in the next 52 weeks because the economy is slowing down and we are using a bit less oil. In anticipation of this the price of oil per barrel has been dropping.
I too have shopped these for bonus fees - as much as $25.00 plus reimbursements. They are very quick with short reports, but do require 4-6 photos which take a while to upload. I won't do one for $4.00, but will when they go to $10 if I have something else in the area. I go back to my comment last week, you have to think of these small paying shops as a benefit, not profit. Is it important to you to get some shopping done to build your reputation with the company? Then that would be a benefit to your future shopping experiences with the company. Do you have a shop in the same route with one of these assignments? Then it could be a benefit to stop and get fuel. Where I live, their fuel is usually $0.02 higher than everyone else, so, if I do shop them, I get the minimum in fuel. Look for the ones that are a kiosk or has no c-store, that cuts your shopping time in half. If there is no restroom, your photos are taken outside, a view of the business instead of the interior of restroom. Very easy assignments. I did one last week for $10 and found that the reports have been shortened. Remember - is it a benefit? bottom line - if you don't think they pay enough - keep looking until you find something that is worth your time - - - unless it can benefit you in some other way - - this isn't just about money - or some of us wouldn't be doing it - - Happy Shopping!
