When you click the "Print Blank Evaluation" button, it brings up the page/screen but you don't actually have to continue with the print command. You can see the security code right on that page. Copy and paste into your cheat sheet or just write the number down somewhere where you won't lose it. No biggie.

My gas stations are way too busy to stand around waiting to take the pump photos in order. That is why I use my cheat sheet / photo checklist. After photographing a pump, it gets checked off of my list.

On the rare instance when I am able to shoot all the pumps in perfect order, I contact the newspaper immediately with the Breaking News! Then I submit my photos of the Loch Ness Monster and a unicorn!

I do a similar shop for A-Closer-Look. My gas reimbursement is $10, and I have to take four pictures, including two of the bathroom.

I realize this is not great money but I actually enjoy doing these revealed audits. I use them as fillers because they do not make you pick a date. Only a date range of about 10 days. So, whenever I'm in an area I stop by the nearby gas station and put a few gallons of gas in my tank for free.

Are yours mystery shops or revealed? It's kind of hard to be anonymous when you're taking the type of photos that they are requesting!

But all I see are revealed audits -- even for the brands I've never shopped.

Addressing another poster: No, I'm not doing anything wrong. I do prep a checklist and go right down it. When I'm doing shops/audits for Marketforce, I can do a ms in 12-20 minutes and a thorough audit, with all required photos, in less than 1/2 hour. Same for other ms'ing companies, no matter the brand.

Like I said, Maritz audits = my Waterloo!!!!

I have a bunch of the mystery shops this month at the station that also does audits.

As far as I know they only have pure mystery shops for 1 client and that is the only client that influences what you see. So if you have done an audit for the one client then you would not see the mystery shops for that one client.

I like being able to audit some and mystery shop others. Unfortunately, a manager at a station I had been auditing moved to one I mystery shopped, so that ended the mystery shopping at that station.

I agree talking the pump pics in order makes doing the report much easier as does loading all of the pics at the end of the shop. a cheat sheet is a necessity. if you printed every page of a report form you would be paying a bunch in paper and ink. A 6-page report can be broken down to a 1-page form with all of the pertinent questions addressed. As far as pump questions I find it easier to take a good picture of the pump and sort out what was and was not on the pump later. Most of these shops can be done in 20 minutes and submitted in 45 minutes, without mistakes. However, the new form from Maritzcx and the red white and blue gas stations is ridiculous Each shop takes 40 minutes to do it correctly and no kidding 1 1/2 hour to submit. Then after submitting the shop, the Maritz site kicks the shop back empty so you have to fill out the whole report again. Not worth it.

Maybe Maritz has more than one client for gas mystery shops. The instructions for the one I do says the client requires you to use the unit to test it. At the end of the section, the guidelines say that they won't reimbursed for the amount spent to test the air and water. The gas mystery shop I do for MF just requires looking at the unit.

I have to disagree about the new form bxb, as I think it is more logically grouped into related segments and I find it easier and quicker to fill out than the old form. I have set up the pump POP portion of my worksheet in the same order as the questions which makes it easier for me. However, I think I am in the minority as when I mentioned that I like the new form to one of the schedulers she acted very surprised and I assume she is getting a negative response.

Both MSCs have gas station audits AND mystery shops. I did one for Maritz and it took me 90 minutes. I don't do the audits. But! I do occasionally wear my swell safety vest around the house...

It's possible I read that and interpreted it as I'm not spending 1/6th of a shop fee to answer a question that they will not let me answer a negative to. The three times I have been to a station without one their form has sent me in circles stating that they do have one and to change my answer.

Maritz actually has 4 or 5 different gas station shops. Some of their shops take less than 10 minutes, Most stations with 8 or more pumps will take about twenty minutes. I download the photos in my computer and follow the debrief with the pictures in my phone. Even the larger stations don't take more than 30 mins. They pay really fast and they're accurate. I try to do 5 -6 shops in a localized area. The staff is the best. They are very helpful and as accommodating. Like anything that is performed in repetition, create a system and stay with the program that works. I've really grown to like working with Maritz.

Average time spent 20 to 30 minutes, maybe 45 for a 24 pump station. No minimum wage either!!! I'm super confused ??!?!?!?!?!?!?

I do not agree with not mentioning a specific company in our posts. I gave up on cheapskates Maritz a long time ago.

These reports should only take about 20 minutes to input. They used to take me much longer until I discovered two things:

-Faststone image resizer is a free program that automatically formats all of the photos to Maritz's required dimensions.

-Do not upload photos as you go through the report. Answer all the questions and then submit the report. It will take you to a page where you can upload all the photos at once. When I discovered this it shaved about an hour off of my input time. I also discovered that I had been uploading photos that were not needed because the second page did not ask for them.

Sadly I no longer do gas station shops. I had a safety issue during my last route and encounter flashbacks every time I pump gas as a regular customer. I enjoyed gas stations with Maritz for several years.

Ah, does that ever bring back unpleasant memories! Part of why reports for Maritz took me so long to input! Won't let me continue with the report until I give them the answer they require, but in order to do that, I must LIE! Hate those darned endless loops which requires a phone call to the "team", then waiting for a call back. Then the call back just tells you to answer the required question as a lie, in order to continue with the report.

Then I would always send an e-mail, explaining what actually happened vs. what I had to put on the report. Which would confuse the "team" no end. And lead to more phone calls!

I just can't afford to spend 3 or more hours on a shop that pays a total of about $17.

Kudos to you that make it work for you. But like I said, the ONLY ones I have ever seen, every single one is a revealed audit. Since the nearest one to me is 45 miles away, I just can't make them pay. Now, if I could find some that were just MS, in and out and a couple photos, I'd happily try again. And I have done plenty of other shops for Maritz that I breezed right through and had no problems -- banks, retail, etc.

And I have done plenty of revealed audits for other companies that I'm in and out in less than 45 minutes, the report takes 15-25 minutes, and the pay is also in the $17 range...with an additional $2-6 per station if I pick up a mini-route of 3-7 stations, which means I can do 3-7 stations and get all the reports done the same day, and done and paid.

I LOVE how everyone totally ignored the stern warning of the ICA police!

Yep, saying "Maritz" and "gas stations, banks, retail" isn't a violation. No brands mentioned.

The ICA is a standard ICA. All mystery shoppers sign the standard ICA if they want to work as ICs for the mystery shopping company. The smart ones actually read it, and understand what they are agreeing to, before signing.
