Gas stations

I've never seen a water hose ever. I think it's a southern thing..?

The water hoses would freeze in the North. With this winter storm, the water hoses are probably freezing in the South right about now.

Now if they offered Southern Sweet Tea from a hose...
Unless I have the brand confused the water hose is no longer a part of the shop. Nor is the quick pay check at the pump. And we don't have to check for credit cards at the pump either. For this shop I have never paid to see if the air unit worked, merely to see if it appeared functional.

I'll correct myself, we do have to check for applications at the pumps but now it is a negative and requires a picture.

I'm confused why everyone is talking about audits when the op question seems to be about mystery shops. I like the Maritz gas m shops. The reimbursement covers the required gas (something MF does not in my area) and there are no photos. The downside is that you have to physically make sure the air/water work, unlike MF and Maritz doesn't reimburse for it (in my state it's free if you purchase gas). The report has a little more to it but not much in my opinion.

I have only encountered one or two of the many gas stations Maritz does where it is a straight revealed audit. Usually, there is a mystery shop element where you buy $X of gas and go inside to buy something in the convenience store for a dollar or two. Then, you reveal yourself, put on the vest, take the photos. So, what I'm trying to say is that these gas station audits also involve mystery shopping.

Every client company is a little different regarding what photos are required and what items you are checking. (For example, having to physically check the air pump.) I try to do one visit to begin with to get a real feel for it before I sign up for a bunch of any of the gas companies.

I did a few at my previous location, mostly debranding. Since I have changed locations I have been doing lots of work with Maritz. There are some frustrating things about working with them, but overall I have been paid well and I appreciate them as a company.

As far as the audit that requires a photo of every pump face, I would rather do that than the one that requires a photo of each restroom (that's a bit awkward) and a photo of the food options in the convenience store. Often, the coffee is on one side of the store, the sandwiches are in the middle, and the fruit is somewhere else. But, if you mark down the the location has fruit, fruit had better be in your photo. I have made my own pump chart and I just mark down the various elements as I take the photos and it does not take long at all.

I have never once actually put money in the machine. My interpretation is if there is not an out of order sign on it or it does not have obvious damage then it is considered working.

Maybe Maritz has more than one client for gas mystery shops. The instructions for the one I do says the client requires you to use the unit to test it. At the end of the section, the guidelines say that they won't reimbursed for the amount spent to test the air and water. The gas mystery shop I do for MF just requires looking at the unit.

It's possible I read that and interpreted it as I'm not spending 1/6th of a shop fee to answer a question that they will not let me answer a negative to. The three times I have been to a station without one their form has sent me in circles stating that they do have one and to change my answer.

Yes exactly.. what do I do? If its there .. I dont want to waste a dollar man. Esp where Im physically earning 6. Help!!!
One way to make this sting less is by not taking jobs for $6. You can usually negotiate with schedulers. Or wait them out. The more people that take these things for base fee, the worse off we all are.
