I am a new shopper and am going on a shop today and the instructions say to make a phone call ahead to check to see if they are open and their hours. Nothing was said about it being a recorded call so can I just assume it's just an ordinary call from my home phone?
This requirement comes up a lot in shops. My go-to question is "how late are you open?" And when they answer, I like to say something like, "Oh good, We still have time to get there. Thanks." It seems more natural that way.
Sometimes they will ask for information from the call such as date/time/ greeting/ and you will need to ask for the associate's name if not given. Other times it's just a formality so that you can make sure the location will actually be open when you go. Be sure to read your guidelines and questionnaire so you will be all set to take notes if needed.
