Really? I thiink they're easy! It's right up the street and it doesn't take long because my store is very well maintained and organized. The report only takes about 2 or 3 minutes from what I remember. Works for me, different strokes I guess. Thanks for reminding me, I just picked one up!
I do these all the time, albeit with a bonus. The count takes less than an hour, and the report about 3 minutes. They are one of my favorite add-on shops.
So, counting that many items doesn't take that long? Seems like it would? I would consider if it's really that straight forward.

And just like dust, I will rise.
Stormraven73 = how are you doing them that quickly?

I think they are very easy once you get the hang of it. Around where I live they jump off the board.
I don't mind them. Takes me about a half an hour (and the report is easy) so if one is on my way somewhere I pick it up. Some categories take longer than others though, and this is something that you get quicker at the more you do it.

It takes me about 30 minutes to do these. Then, I hang out and shop and double check my work (right) to be sure I am there for an hour.
I was near the store yesterday and did a test run. One question: how do you get the managers name without attracting attention?

taraklunkler, the instructions to obtain the manager's name is written in the guidelines.
I'm sure I read, a couple of months ago, that these now require pictures. Don't the employees see you there, doing the shop? And do they report that they know who the MS is? That happened to me with Papa John's. I think the neighbor I was giving the pizza to told Papa John's or they did the ole' leave out the sauce cup thing. Freaked me out!

If it isn't posted by the front door, I tell them my teen needs a job and ask who they should talk to. If they tell me just to have him apply online, I say I have taught him to write cover letters and interview thank you letters, so could I please have the name. Sometimes I just say he wants to know who to expect to talk to so he can put it in his contacts.

As for counting them in an hour, I actually find that to be about average for those who have done a few of these audits. I have my category list on my phone, and start my count. Any time I find a "wrong" item I move it to the gap I've made between sections. If I find more than 7 I take a picture. I then snap a picture of one tag so I will have the number, then move to the next section.

I always grab a cart and put an item or two in for camouflage, and make sure at least one drapes over the front to hide my phone so I don't have to keep pulling it out of my purse or pocket.

Good luck!
They take me about an hour. The one closest to me is newer and in better shape than one "in town" and a further drive. Never doing that one again! My local store has the store manager's name posted in the bathroom, so that's how I always get it.
I have done these and with the exception of the shoes they are really easy to do. If the bonus is high enough though -- the shoes aren't that bad either.
They are easy and I can do one in under 15 minutes. I just snap a pix of the required sku#'s. The input takes less than 5 minutes.
I tell a cashier I want to send an email to the company about the great service I got. They always cheerfully provide the name.
This shop is easy, especially if you can skip count ... I usually count by 5's! Managers name is usually posted in the store... I also shop while I count!
They are worth it with a bonus. I did one last month with a $15 bonus. They are really not that difficult.
You're supposed to check the size of each item. In an hour or less, can you really do that to 625 items and note the problems? If so, do you have any tips how to do it?
RE staff spotting you as a mystery shopper: It doesn't matter. The store knows auditors will be there. Staff can't do anything to alter the results.

Other than the shoes, I find that it really doesn't take that long to check tags on the items. I admit I don't always take the time to hunt for the size label in every single item--jeans can be a pain that way. I don't count the ones I skip, though. Also, if the tag has a wrong size or it's obvious the item is not the right size, I will take the time regardless. Even skipping a few I'd say I check 98%.
Pretty sure they are not getting an accurate report in under 15 minutes from you.

Stormraven thank you...for the poster who said read the guidelines...duh i had!

I refuse to do these shops any more. The stores in my area are trashed out and don't have the size on the hang tags. They take me 2 hours. No more.
