What does "Due at midnight" mean?

Does "Due at midnight" mean where the shopper lives, or where the company headquarters/company server is located? Sometimes, I submit jobs just before midnight on the due date thinking, "Whew, I made it in time." Then I find out the submission shows it was received on the next calendar date.

I am sure that this varies by MSC. If the shop guidelines do not specify, as some do, I would email the scheduler well before the due date for specifics.

I think it depends on your shop instructions. Most of the shops I've seen have stated due by whatever time est or cst. I think where it doesn't state the time zone, your best guess would be the time zone the shop was performed. Also, anything after 11:59pm is the next day.

I personally wouldn't worry about it. There are VERY few companies who have a midnight deadline who actually care about that midnight deadline. Mostly they just want it when they start working the next morning. Midnight, 1AM, 2AM, not really a big difference.

They might say 12:00 PM EST. Since Eastern time is 3 hours ahead of Pacific time, this would be to your advantage if you lived on the West Coast. smiling smiley
Don't you mean disadvantage? Midnight eastern time would be only 9 pm on the west coast.

If it were 12 Midnight on the East Coast and 9 PM on the West Coast, then the West Coast shopper has more of an advantage to get it in by midnight if the time to get the report in is 12 Midnight. . Or am I wrong? smiling smiley
They want it in that night. If you get it in a little after, or even the wee hours of the morning, they seem to be happy. I would say it's most likely their server time but I haven't been dinged yet for being a little late when I have tons of reports to get in and let some slide by a few hours.

If the report is due at midnight eastern time which is 9 pm Pacific time, the west coast shopper has three fewer hours. If the report is due at midnight the shopper's time, there is no difference. The stores being shopped don't open three hours earlier on the west coast.

Midnight Italian time for me. That means "at some point" during the night. smiling smiley

Same as bgriffin - before I retire for the night and before they want to work on it. I try to knock it out my midnight my time though if I'm not sure.

12pm is noon, 12am is midnight. Midnight is technically the beginning of the day. If you do a shop today, if the instructions say due by midnight today the instructions are technically wrong but logically implying by the end of the day. Logic must be applied. For example, a 9pm PST dinner can not be entered by midnight. Most EST people would not want to be up until 3am entering a report even if PST was used smiling smiley

I just realized SunnyDays would be right if she had reversed the time zones. If you are on the east coast a midnight PST deadline would be 3 AM your time.

And this is all way too much for me. All I'm doing at midnight is sleeping, LOL!

I've noticed it depends on the company. With Trendsource, It's midnight my time on the east coast even though they are Pacific. I believe with Bestmark, it's due Central time even though I'm eastern.

The way I see it regardless of what Coast I am on-------->"Due by midnite" ---------->to me means that the day in which I perform the shop, the report is to be submitted by midnite that same night. Some MSCs used the due time as 11:59pm. I can go for that. Any report submitted after that time comes up late. esp Alta360. Ipsosus, ACE and other Shopmetrics companies.

BTW, Bestmark reports are due 12:00 pm Central time the next day. Bestmark gives less then a hoot where you live, 1200pm Central time the next day is there requirment.smiling smiley

For some reason, I thought they were due 10 AM Central or perhaps it's just a particular kind of shop. I usually report everything the same evening/night unless I run out of time. In those instances, I save the ones with wiggle room for last. I usually plan a bit better but on occasion things pop up and keep things from going smooth :/
