Oh Boy...Fell in love with a $1900 purse!!!

Back in the day, when things were financially much better than they are these days, I would have bought it and loved it forever, but I just can't justify the expense. But, oh, it was gorgeous and the salesperson did an excellent job of almost talking me into it. That would be 54 of those shops to pay for it with only two stores locally. But if I ever win the lottery....

What have you been tempted to buy on a shop, that you really shouldn't have?

Nice job in showing restraint. I dream of owning a Prada purse some day. Right now, I have a sample of some nasty-smelling Prada pour homme cologne that Macy's sent along with a purchase at least I can tell myself that I have something from Prada. Not the same. I haven't done a shop that gets me near fancy purses (like at that famous leather shop) because I'm scared I would be tempted.
I lucked out once, I was browsing a nice little consignment shop near me and my eyes beheld a wonderous sight, a genuine (not a knock off) Prada purse, apparently brand new for the bargain price of $ 2. Apparently someone at that shop didn't pay attention to what they had there, Naturally Cettie the Purse Junkie had to grab it. The same little shop which also had someone's lightly used Coach purse for the same price. I snatched that up too.

$20,000 watch. It looked so nice on my wrist. It really did.

$9,000 clutch purse. Kind of silly. I rarely do black tie / formal events.

$900 caviar face serum. Then I realized that I am not an international money launderer, so that was too much to spend. smiling smiley

I did spend $80 on 3 tubes of lipstick (reimbursed though). Thank you Mr Client who was so generous to pay to fly me all the way there to buy it. Hard to believe that I was the only one available for that gig. That was pretty frivolous.
$200 pair of raw denim jeans on a shop with no reimbursement was my worst.

One time I was shopping an athletic shoe store. I was supposed to go through the process and then refuse to see how they reacted. I absolutely loved the shoes. They felt better than any I had ever worn before and instead of objecting, I bought them. They were $200 which is more than I would normally pay for athletic shoes.

The store went out of business, but I still buy those shoes when I get new ones. They never go on sale and aren't eligible for discounts at Dick's or anywhere else. But they're great shoes and I still love them.

You liked them or you bought them? Inquiring minds want to know.

$200 is what I'd have to pay to get a good fitting pair of jeans for my son. $240 + actually.
My baby boy is 6'6" and 190#. Hopefully, he is done growing. There are only a few high end brands that have a 36-38" inseam.
My sister used to travel a lot and bought a Prada handbag from Italy (I always loved it). She got Dementia and had to go to a home, when having her estate sale, her son said, Auntie Irene, thanks for helping us find a home for Mom, why don't you take a couple things you like...yes, the Prada is mine along with a fabulous diamond ring I treasure and my daughter has her eye on. Shops, doing my Channel, I always loved their clothes, same store a Louie Vuiton handbag, the big one, but my fee didn't allow it, haha. I really didn't get much from a shop, a Guess handbag and Channel perfume was it, just o.k. Family has been better to me than MS'ing, as my sister worked for 50 years at I.Magnin, then Saks Fifth Ave where she got me 30% off, everything. Thanksgiving we'd go up and buy a really nice something. The thing about good clothes (not made in China) they last forever. I still wear designer suits from years ago. Classic never goes out of style.

Bought them. 3 years later they are still the best jeans I've ever owned.

I did a jewelry shop this week where I had a Vera Wang diamond and natural sapphire engagement ring and band on my ring finger...It was a three stone engagement ring with a half wrap around set of stones on the band and 10k white gold.. The set was well over $7k and looked so pretty! We could pay bills at the house for an entire year for that kind of money.

I no longer do new car shops and jewelry shops.

I have enough self-discipline to not buy these things -- only if I use my self-discipline to stay away from where they are!!!!

Probably going to think of you as Mr Fancy Pants now.
I'm actually wearing them today!

I fell in love with a $56 steak, a $16 drink, a $500 hotel room, a$5 scoop of ice cream, a $23 eyeshadow, a $36 sushi plate and a $40 spiral sliced, glazed mini ham. All of these things were shops and all were more than twice the price I would normally pay for the item.
I love some of the things I see during shops! I just don't buy them. I just pretend that I really am so-and-so who just loves such-and-such and would like to buy it immediately if only some unsatisfiable condition could have been met before my nonexistent lunch date, dinner date, nail appointment, whatever...

Fortunately, I find some goodies in my price range elsewhere. Some generous soul relinquished Pendleton. Another kindly being gave up Kenneth Cole. I found these pristine things in a thrift store. Due to a pricing thing and a sale, my FF shop fee from the same day covered the cost of lovely goodies. It was a good day.

I would like to add that Costco sometimes does a road show with luxury branded purses. If you are not familiar with road shows, the products go to Costco locations for a limited time to showcase unique items that are not normally sold at Costco on a regular basis. I was at a Costco for a shop sometime last year and saw that they had Prada, Gucci and another high end branded name purse on a road show.
Oh that totally reminded me. Traeger Grills! I like to cook and I'm pretty good at it but I can't grill for the life of me. I think I could with one of those though. I REALLY want one.

For me those grills were too much like cooking in the ovensmiling smiley I actually enjoy the process of barbecuing and smoking too much for a set it and forget it type grill.

JASFLALMT, Lol. Do you know how many Market Force shops it would take to pay for that thing?

I had to bring along my son for demography. The men's clothes were so expensive but my son liked a pair of jeans and there was no reimbursement. I bought it for more than $300 and he said those were the best jeans he ever wore.
$50,000 luxury SUV... yes the car dealer was actually that good, and didn't screw me on the trade-in which was at just the right age and mileage where it was about to plateau and drop in value. It was a Honda to Acura upgrade (Honda owns Acura) which I think helped... In fact I bought the one I test drove -- noted it in the shop. The car dealer got a great report -- needless to say I got my $50 smiling smiley
I use shops to look around and pick out the brands and styles that I like. I then know what I am looking at and how to spot them at the Goodwill on the next shop.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
