Apartment video shops

I have only done one apartment shop so far which was not a video one. I plan on doing more. I was wondering if the video ones have a lot less narratives in the report. The shop I did took me about 2 hours to complete (report). How do video apartment shops compare?

A 2 hour report sounds like it was for EPMS, which has the most lengthy and detailed reports of all. Yes, that report goes faster with practice, but is still very long for the pay involved.

Regarding video apartment shops... Yes and no. Most EPMS apartment videos have the same report as nonvideo. But, I do many apartment video shops where the report takes from 3 to about 15 or 20 minutes. The 3 minute ones ask the name of the agent, start and end times and date, your alias, and how you labeled the video for upload. The longer ones include some multiple chicer questions and, perhaps, 2 very short narratives. The main line video MSCs (which does not include EPMS!) also tnd to use schedulers who have all done hundreds or thousands of video shops and are very supportive of the shoppers. It is a whole difference world from "traditional" shopper-scheduler relationships! Many video shoppers just won't work for a scheduler who is not a seasoned video shopper, for that reason.

I've had the opposite experience. Several years ago I noticed more video shops requiring the same report as non-video. I have also completed a couple of traditional apartment shops for a company other than Ellis with the exact same report. Those shops were actually worse because their expectations for narrative were much more in depth.

While $35 is not enough for 30 minutes on site and a two hour report, if the bonus is good I'm fine with the lengthier report. IMO, the key with Ellis is don't overthink it. I've got them down to about an hour with 45 minutes being my record. I'm a little more verbose with their non-video shops.

I have not ventured into video shops, just yet but I've done audio shops with EPMS. It takes me about 1.5 hrs to complete and I've been shopping with since the end of last quarter.

Do you use their equipment?
I think that EPMS is one of the very few that still loan video equipment. If they do, it may well be worth a new shopper's time to use their rigs to learn the ropes before branching out and buying a rig. A full PV-500 rig, with HD camera is now available at about $360 from Dan Thomas, who has the best deals on equipment that meets video MSC's minimum specs for audio and video quality. DO NOT just poke around on the Internet looking for "deals," because almost all of the PV-500s for sale there have one or more components that will not produce audio and video that meets industry standards. Moreover, many of the older PV-500s on sale there are known to have high failure rates.

No, I am not affiliated with Dan Thomas in any way except as an admirer of his work in support of educating and supporting his fellow video shoppers.

A word of caution. I have both the SD and HD models. There are MSCs who are not fans of the HD as the files are MUCH larger and it takes three times as long to edit.

Hmmm. No one has ever complained and I think that I have worked for every mainline video MSC that has apartment or new home of assisted/independent living shops east of the Mississippi. Plus many that have new car shops, especially luxury cars and valet parking.

We do entirely different shops. I rarely do any of those.

Aha! So we are never in competition. No wonder we get along so well.
Actually, because you work a lot of one-party states, you have a lot of recorded shop opportunities in industries that have not yet moved to recording in 2 party states, I think.

Yes. I don't plan to buy any of my own either.

Maybe once @walesmaven or @bgriffin retire, they'll offer theirs to me smiling smiley lol!
