Mystery Shopper Email VERY visible at the register...

I conducted 13 shops today, and on the last leg, I was browsing near the register, and saw, yep, a printed email to the employees, warning them about upcoming mystery shoppers coming to town! Clearly, I kept a straight face and proceeded with my shop...

And just like dust, I will rise.

I am assuming gas stations though.

Actually was a project with a very small group of dedicated shoppers. Apparently all five or six of us were there.

That SUCKS! You would think the Manager, Franchisee, whatever would want to know how the employees are doing so they can help them succeed instead of alerting them so they can learn to beat the system instead.
I do sometimes wonder how many back rooms my ugly face is plastered on.

I think if I were a store manager, heck I might put out a notice about mystery shoppers even on days I knew no one was showing up.

Depends on what the purpose of the mystery shop is. Many times clients don't mystery shop for the same reasons we all assume they mystery shop. And sometimes it doesn't matter. The project that I was referring to is pretty intensive. It doesn't matter if they know I'm the shopper or not. This shop is more of a test of knowledge. If they're not prepared they'll fail either way. So it doesn't really matter. Then there are some that are trying to measure a service level for someone else's consumption.

I've done some shops where it was very apparent they knew I was a shopper. But that doesn't mean their employees are going to do/say the right thing. And having every single employee hunt me down to say hello isn't going to make it into the report if they're not my target.
That may explain why every time I go to one particular 5 guys, an employee always comes out to clean the dining room! I usually shop 4-5 locations a month, and I feel like at this one, they might know me!!

I've eaten at Five Guys a lot and I believe that every single time there was a worker cleaning the dining room.

I think it's pretty normal. smiling smiley They allow peanut shells on the ground and their food has grease that can make things icky, so it's really normal that they'd have to clean regularly.
I was sure that one of the members of management took my picture at Five Guys before. I think they should treat all customers as if they could be a Mystery shopper.

Even better when you're in a line inside, and they are all excited about "discovering" a mystery shopper in the drive thru.
