Canceling a shop

Ok, quick question. I have a shop scheduled for tomorrow but I'm barely able to function today and I'm scared that tomorrow will be the same. The stomach flu has hit my house hard. It's a Saturday here, If I cancel the shop tonight will that ruin my chances of getting another job? Or effect the other jobs I have scheduled? I might be able to push through tomorrow but honestly if I feel anything like I do today it will be hard. Any advice you can offer will be appreciated!

E-mail the scheduler or helpdesk (or equivalent) and ask for a reschedule date. I usually phrase it as "if you cannot reschedule for a later date, please cancel the shop, as I am too ill to complete it as currently scheduled".
Yes, always request a reschedule. It's early in the month so hopefully it won't be a problem. Hope you feel better soon.
Agreed. Ask to be rescheduled due to illness. I was sick last week and had to reschedule about seven shops. I only lost one as my suggested reschedule date was already taken. My suggestion is just don't do it every week and it will not affect you. I have also asked for extensions to complete reports when I'm absolutely exhausted. The schedulers have generally been nice and accommodated me.
I had to reschedule a couple of times, I was sick once with a fever and once my Daughter was ill, they could not have been nicer and more accommodating, I threw out a couple of other dates I could do it and they quickly assigned me those dates. You will find just like a regular job, things happen and sometimes they can't be helped.
I think it is better to do it ahead of time. Recently I had to reschedule a shop because I screwed up on the time frame. They did reschedule but warned me that it would result in a citation next time. They sent an email stating that cancelling or rescheduling before the shop was acceptable.

I agree with Tucketgirl. If you act in a responsible manner, offer alternative dates or at least not try to hold on to it, then most MSC are accommodating. If you hold on to it until the next day, find that you cannot perform it, then cancel without alternatives then that's a day wasted that someone else could have picked up the job and performed it.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

Thank you all for your advice. I ended up contacting the MSC and you were correct, they were very nice!
Sorry!! I just saw your post. Yes I'm feeling much better and I was able to reschedule without any problems. The MSC was extremely nice.
