On those very rare occasions where I have wanted to change a shop date, I have always been able to do so online. Likewise, the very few times I have asked questions, I have been met with respectful answers followed by phrases such as "Thanks for calling," "Have a good day," and "Let me know if you have any further questions."
I only do a handful of shops for them each month. While their pay is not fantastic, I continued to complete assignments for them because they have been so consistently easy to work with.
I do not know if my experience is rare or not. However, I would be interested in knowing about why you have concluded that "The arrogance the company displays to...others is appalling." What is your N? What survey methodology did you employ to arrive at that conclusion? Or are you projecting a negative opinion based on a few random anecdotes? If that is the case, perhaps you might be best to re-evaluate your conclusions.
