For the past couple of years I have been queen of the gas station audits. I like them for several reasons, I like getting outside, I like the physical activity of all the walking around the site, I like meeting the locals in all the little towns I go to. Last week I negotiated some highly bonused last minute stations and added a couple of nicely bonused shops to it, I was going to clear about $280 for the day, which to me is pretty good money. Then disaster strikes. I injure my knee somehow and I have to stay off of it for the foreseeable future. Well, I can walk around the house but to be on it for any length of time causes great pain. I had to cancel my profitable day route. So today I was browsing the job boards wondering how I could make some money (and get out of the house.) I see a "make an offer" button on some quick easy cell phone shops that were an hour away. I thought "why not?" and submitted an offer for $75 on the first one to make sure I would have enough money to make the drive not a loss. 10 minutes later, it goes through and I get an email. So I go back and submit an offer for $75 on the second one which is about 20 minutes drive from the first one. 10 minutes later, it goes through and I get an email. Now I start scouring the boards for real and have secured 2 more fast easy shops that only require minimal time on my feet, just long enough to go into a convenience store. I'm set up to almost make $200 for the day, which, again, to me is good money. Heck I could work a week at a part time job cashiering or whatever and not make that much. I have to drive some but luckily I can drive without causing pain to my knee.
The beauty of mystery shopping is that it allows for this kind of flexibility. And at times like this, I really appreciate that.
