Would $35 Cover Total Cost of Texas Roadhouse for Two?

Never eaten there before, but see a shop offer for this, which REQUIRES you bring a guest.

Seems like I would lose money on this shop if two people ordered entrees (and even just water). But I always see very high reviews/grades for this place. My parents have been and also say it tastes great, so I'm tempted to do it.

That's not too bad if the report is short. R U able to get two steaks with that amt. or are one or more entrees of a "lesser" value like a salad?
You could do two of the small I think 6oz sirloins and two sodas for $35 including tax and tip. This depends upon location prices and taxes in your area. They also have a solo shop at the bar but you must sit at the bar and reimburses only $25.

Are the prices not on the menu online?

I always check out the menu before deciding where to eat whether cost is a factor or not.

Generic, but not location specific I don't think. Looks like it would go over the allowance from what I can tell, eyelove2shop. sad smiley

I guess one person could order a not-so-great entree. lol. But that kind of sucks to do that at a good steak place.

Sadly, the reimbursement has not changed in at least 10 years.

Yeah. But that kind of stinks to have to order a 6 ouncer.
We went way over by but my SO always orders beer and he ordered a filet. If I do this shop again, it's going on our joint credit card. I had the 6oz sirloin and it was just as good as his steak.

They have an early dinner menu Monday to Thursday for about $10 an entree.
Ours ends at 6pm and the shops don't allow you to enter the location until then. I did do a location with a steak/ shrimp special on Wednesday nights but my local ones don't offer this.
The report is super simple though and their bread and cinnamon butter alone makes any overage worth it!!

Same here.

You can't enter until 6PM.

I guess I'll go ahead and try this shop. Heard too many good things about it to care about a few bucks overage.

And, yeah, I see a lot of high praise for their rolls and butter. smiling smiley

Texas Roadhouse here we come!!!
It's an easy shop. I do it as often as I can. We have gotten out for 35.00 but usually we go just a tad over.

I've done the dinner/bar shops. For one person $25 was more than enough. Next time I'll order the larger size beer though! You can only have one drink while on the shop - but there is no stipulation on the size of drink. The rolls and butter are fantastic!

Nope. But when i was dating i did one... reports pretty much the same as the other one. If you are going out anyway and want a cheap date at a pretty nice place its worth the effort. I just got what i wanted and she got what she wanted. And i cut the cost by $35.

I went there a couple of weeks ago with my sister. The bill totaled $70. It was well worth it. The food is excellent. I ordered the full rack of ribs. I take home the left overs.

I did the bring a guest scenario for the first time last month. We both ordered the Wild West Wednesday special. It was a 10 or 11 oz strip, with two sides. My guest had a tea and I had a huge draft beer. The bill was $40 with an extremely generous tip. We did not order dessert.

The strip steaks are good and I'll say it out loud, better than the rib eye.

The other scenario can be done with 2 people for a little over reimbursement if you order the early bird special and no alcohol. One person $25 is more than enough if you don't go overboard. Even when I have gone over it's 100 times better than fast food and less than eating someplace that is completely out of pocket.

I only wish the rotation wasn't so long. I have an overnight road trip and really don't want to eat at McDonald's.

Enjoy. Easy report and good food.

You can definitely get by under budget on this one if you order a lower-cost entree and waters. We love the pork chops, which are only $9.99 and includes two sides. We always have leftovers. In my opinion, Texas Roadhouse is one of the best values. The free bread and two sides make it a very filling meal.

To clarify: the sit at the bar shop only requires one person but you can bring a guest, it starts at 5pm so the early bird special helps but isn't necessary if dining alone. The dining room shop starts at 6pm, after the early bird special expires. Two persons minimum.

Other than some more remote locations, the shop is very popular and doesn't sit on the boards too long.

The report is very simple.

I like to do the bar visit alone when my hubby has to go out of town for work. I can get a decent meal and a tall beer for $25, and the report takes about 30 minutes or less. I still go over by a dollar or two but no big deal. We have done the dinner shop together but there is significantly more involved with that one and we go over by at least $10 with tip.
I like the beef tip dinner and I think it's priced around 9.99 so the visit works for us.

We've eaten there plenty of times WITH a kid and still stayed in budget! We typically order two $10 meals, a kids meal and my husband often gets a soda. With tax and tip we come in right around $35. My husband always orders their "road kill" steak.
Select your location and then download the local menu. That one has the prices on it.

Getting a seat at the bar can be a challenge, so I haven't gone after a bar shop in years.
I am happy to report that $35 was enough and a fantastic meal was had at TXRH!

Wow! Their proportion sizing is ginormous and the free bread and free peanuts really fill you up even BEFORE your regular food order! We even had take-home bread (3 rolls) that were good for breakfast the next day.

I do wish there was a fee - even a small one like $5 (you know...just for gas money and report time). But I can honestly say that I wouldn't mind doing this shop again for the reimbursement only, b/c the food and service were great.

I was a few bucks over, but could have gone under if I wanted to, but wanted to try an appetizer, so didn't care.

I give the shop an A- in terms of expectations and compensation. smiling smiley If they paid a small fee or the report was slightly shorter, then I'd give it a full A. But for high-quality and very filling food and a moderate shop report, it was pretty good. I just wish we had more of these restaurants near me.

I did the dining room shop with a guest, but I noticed the bar was full and doesn't have that much room. smiling smiley

Also, there were lots of people LEAVING when I got in at 6PM. We saw a sign re: early bird specials before 6PM. sad smiley Very good deals earlier.

With call ahead seating, it didn't take long to get a table after we arrived. But the dining room was packed.
Yes.

Taxes around my area are around 8% at most.

Minimum tip is 15%

So 23% on top of the menu price will be what you need to fit into the $35 budget.

Thus, $35 / 1.23 = $28.46.

You can definitely order a nice meal with $28.46 total menu price.
