Finally did it!!!

Well I finally totally flubbed a nice shop today. Here's what happened: Signed up with a new MSC, they sent an email with some shops listed, I inquired about a chocolates shop and was suddenly assigned it. I sent back an email explaining that I only wanted to see the requirements before I signed up but didn't get a reply. So I sent another email saying I would go ahead and do the shop even though it is reimbursement only (try to avoid those).

Fought with myself all morning because it's rainy and cold here and I really didn't want to go out. But I did. Shop was easy and very interesting as I suspect that the "chocolate advisor" was only filling in for someone as he did nothing but stand behind the cash register and was dressed in a hoodie and jeans.

Got home, attempted to fill out report (couldn't figure out how to load pictures), and discovered that I only spent $16 when the amount should have been $18. In my mind I thought the reimbursement was up to $18. Senior moment to be sure.

Wrote email to scheduler apologizing for my mistake. Since this is an overseas company I don't expect to hear from them until tomorrow. I really feel bad about messing up the shop but at least I'm stuck with yummy chocolates.

I'll make mistakes but I don't make the same one twice.....

If you are going to mess up a shop, the one where you are "stuck" with chocolate is the way to go, LOL!

If your reimbursed fee is up to $18, why are you not satisfied with spending $16? confused smiley

Chocolates are chocolates. I have yet to find them tasting any different. Spending $18 to $16 is no need to jump over the rainbow. While I might purchase the $18, but not because I like the chocolates, but to make sure I got paid back.(reimbursed) by carefully preforming all parts of that shop correctly.
Whether you notice the difference, not all chocolate is created equal nor does it taste the same. Kind of like wine.

I used to do a chocolate shop for them but haven't seen it recently. Sounds like the same client though. It was always interesting as most of the chocolate was sold in bulk and priced by the pound. I would try to weigh my choices before hand but if the total at the register was still under the required purchase amount I would add a candy bar or something similar before paying. I'm guessing they may still accept your shop. Let us know.
Quoting directly from the guidelines "You will be reimbursed up to the maximum consumption stated in your fees invoice." But the shop specifics definitely said I won't get paid unless $18 is spent. Guess my meager mind mixed the two.

And my taste buds can tell the difference between chocolates so I'm glad these candies are some of the good stuff!

Yes, please do let us know how this turns out.

Meanwhile, I agree with above poster; I could EASILY spend $16 on chocolates without a shop!!!

MSC first asked me to do the shop again but I said it's not in my budget. Then scheduler said the supervisor would ask the client if they wanted to accept my shop - haven't heard back yet.

After many years of mystery shopping I finally did a shop on the wrong day. And even though it was for yummy stuff I really do not want to pay $45 out of pocket for a dozen cupcakes and then go back and buy another dozen two days later. Fortunately my scheduler happily changed the date for me.
So you did the best thing by contacting your scheduler. Now you will have some chocolate to cheer you up while you wait to see if you get reimbursed.
Are those cupcakes dipped in gold?

I think Sandy lived near a metro area in California where even $#!% is dipped in gold.
I am looking for a "Tony's" shop. According to the product wrapper, this chocolate maker intends to make "slave-free" chocolate and put some chocolove into the world. I wonder if there will be shops for this brand... Meanwhile, I hope that Lucy88's shop will be approved. This is chocolate, after all. It is supposed to simulate being in love, or something, by increasing endorphin activity. Why not approve the shop and give some love to Lucy88, and demonstrate that chocolove is real? grinning smiley

Never heard back from the MSC so I'm assuming the shop was not approved. I can't check their site as there is no log-in option.....access is granted via email once you accept a job.

Still enjoying those chocolates though!

Just in case anyone is interested, beware those $18 chocolate shops unless you really understand what you have signed up for. Yes, it's $18 in reimbursement, but what they didn't tell me until I accepted the job was that you are required to buy a chocolate drink as part of the reimbursed $18. Luckily I dodged it as when I turned up my location, they didn't happen to offer drinks, but if buying a drink isn't your thing, assume that you're going to end up with significantly less chocolate than you thought unless you are lucky enough that your location doesn't do drinks -- in my case I did the shop to get free end of the year teacher presents. It's also a really long report compared to what is usually asked for that amount of pay at least in my area. Never again for me unless it's bonused enough to cover the drink purchase and the long report.
What msc is this? It shouldn't be a problem to name it, since the client isn't named.
For the posters that say chocolate is chocolate, I sure can taste the difference between poor, medium and good quality chocolate. It depends on the cocoa content and manufacturing methods. I guess all taste buds are not created equally.
