The plastic bags at grocery stores hardly hold anything. The bagger will use one bag for a dozen eggs, another bag for a loaf of bread, and another bag for a gallon of milk.

I never use bags for anything with it's own handle such as a six pack of beer.
I honestly can't recall how many Euros the bags were, and I'm no good at conversion either! But they only had reusable bags which we already own a gazillion of. I just didn't think ahead to bring some on the trip. The statues were large when boxes so we bought the largest bag possible for them. Now my daughter uses it to throw her laundry in to bring upstairs on laundry day. So it has its purpose. I know the "no bags" law will make it to my city one day. And I'll be prepared. I just don't like extra charges and such when I'm not expecting them. No one likes to be nickeled and dimed. I must not have looked at the right travel sites because I didn't see a BYOBag notice anywhere!@sandyf wrote:
I am thinking the $1.50 bag at the Paris Disney store was one of those sturdy re usable bag not a thin plastic bag or paper bag.The grocery stores in our area have both choices for sale..the old fashioned paper bags are 10 c and the fancy re usable ones are $1 or 1.50. The non grocery retail stores so far do not charge for plastic but I think legislation is pending on that. In those stores I think they might also have both choices. The World Market in one location here has charged a small fee for a paper bag and a bigger amt for the fancy re usable ones for a few years. The other location I shop in the same city does not charge. It is coming some day folks.

They have to do that for contamination reasons. You always have the option of telling them "as few bags as possible."

I appreciated the liquor (wine) laws in CA. Wine was sold 7 days a week, and everywhere from 7-11 to warehouse stores. I think the cut off times was between 2am and 6am. The prices were awesome. I got wine from The $0.99 only store.
In MD, they have a lot of limitations.
