The Disney Store now charges for a bag!

Neighboring counties where I live make you buy bags. I recycle plastic bags and use them as trash can liners. If I pay for a bag, I don't want any holes!

Like weatherman said, this is to reduce the number of bags flying around freeways and ending up in trees.

Dare, write to them and tell them that you don't like this new policy. Tell them why.

They have to do that for contamination reasons. You always have the option of telling them "as few bags as possible."

I never use bags for anything with it's own handle such as a gallon of milk, a six pack of beer or laundry detergent.

Wha???? Where I live you can't take a six pack of beer out without a bag.

Seriously? Here you don't have to take a bag for anything. I bought a bottle of rum just an hour ago. Since my original plan was just one other item, I didn't take in a bag. All the cashier did was put one of their stickers on each item to alert other employees the merchandise has been paid for.

Remember I live in one of those places where people aren't seen in public with alcohol.

And I live in what was the world headquarters for Anheuser-Busch. We have some of the best liquor laws in the countrysmiling smiley

I appreciated the liquor (wine) laws in CA. Wine was sold 7 days a week, and everywhere from 7-11 to warehouse stores. I think the cut off times was between 2am and 6am. The prices were awesome. I got wine from The $0.99 only store.

In MD, they have a lot of limitations.

It's hard to think of anywhere that doesn't sell alcohol, including CVS and Walgreens. Gas stations always have wine and beer plus some have liquor. It is shut down between like 1:30 am and 6 am except for Sunday when they can't sell until 8 am. We also have a few liquor warehouse stores. Think Costco, but all boozesmiling smiley

I almost forgot my favorite things, all the major players offer regular tastings and at a couple of grocery stores you can buy a glass of wine to drink while you shop, LOL.

Let's not forget that grocery stores started the use of plastic (I certainly don't remember clamoring for it). And now they are so environmentally conscious they force us to buy reusable bags? It's all bottom line, folks, it's all bottom line. Sorry....feeling a little cynical tonight.

I am thinking the $1.50 bag at the Paris Disney store was one of those sturdy re usable bag not a thin plastic bag or paper bag.The grocery stores in our area have both choices for sale..the old fashioned paper bags are 10 c and the fancy re usable ones are $1 or 1.50. The non grocery retail stores so far do not charge for plastic but I think legislation is pending on that. In those stores I think they might also have both choices. The World Market in one location here has charged a small fee for a paper bag and a bigger amt for the fancy re usable ones for a few years. The other location I shop in the same city does not charge. It is coming some day folks.
I honestly can't recall how many Euros the bags were, and I'm no good at conversion either! But they only had reusable bags which we already own a gazillion of. I just didn't think ahead to bring some on the trip. The statues were large when boxes so we bought the largest bag possible for them. Now my daughter uses it to throw her laundry in to bring upstairs on laundry day. So it has its purpose. I know the "no bags" law will make it to my city one day. And I'll be prepared. I just don't like extra charges and such when I'm not expecting them. No one likes to be nickeled and dimed. I must not have looked at the right travel sites because I didn't see a BYOBag notice anywhere!

Doing what I can to enhance the life of my family! I LOVE what I do smiling smiley

At my Krogers, it's not for contamination reasons. They'll stick bug spray in the same bag as apples. I give the bagger my recycle bags and ask that they put only cold items in my large insulated bags. Instead, they put cans of soup and pasta boxes in there. The last time I shopped there, they put one box of Kleenex in a bag with no other items, even though I purchased 2 boxes of Kleenex. Each box of Kleenex was in its own bag. It makes no sense to me.

And in Los Angeles in the past year wine has been allowed (and so many businesses are taking the opportunity) at barbers, hair salons, nail places...not sure if it is limited to them so perhaps most retail places can now sell or give free glasses of booze to their customers while shopping there. I just purchased bottles of Scotch to take to my son...Cost where he lives is over 2x the amt it is in California. He actually saves money paying the airlines $35 for an extra bag filled with liquor every time he visits. I think the wine at the .99 has gotten too expensive though. Now they got smart and are charging $2.99 a bottle for mostly unknown brands ...I can get Gallo at CVS for $2.25 a bottle. And CVS throws in one of those 6 bottle re usable wine carriers for free!

A bit off-topic, and I apologize in advance, but check out the wines available at Aldi. Winking Owl and Moiselle brands are at rock-bottom prices, and they offer several very good varieties. I am very "anti-plastic," and re-use small boxes from Aldi for many of my purchases when feasible.
Ha! How can you be off-topic when the conversation has veered into recycling then booze. smiling smiley

Aldi and SavALot charge for bags, but will gladly accept your taking of boxes for your purchase. smiling smiley
Having just come back from my inlaw's funeral in Utah, I'm grateful also. Nothing like death and family drama with no alcohol (or 3.2 beer if really lucky).
