I did some $2 phone shops for Shopper's View, but the scenario was different from the OP one.
I found them to be very easy once you learned the instructions. There were no long narratives to write - just a few simple questions (that you can answer in a few seconds). They had a saved recording of the call.
The negative is that you have to take some time to learn the shop guidelines. Learning them took longer than doing the shop.
If you are ONLY assigned one or two shops, then I wouldn't feel it worthwhile. The time it takes to learn the instructions aren't worth it for those few shops.
But if you can get five or more, then it's worth it to me. You'll get faster and faster with each shop, since it's familiar at that point.
So, there are some pros/cons. I don't mind them personally, b/c I want to save gas/mileage/wear and tear and work from home when I can't find good profitable routes in my region. I do phone shops, transcription, and other online work all day if I can't get a good route. So if I can rack up a bunch of phone shops, then it's fine by me.
Having said that, they should bump the pay up to $3.00/call minimum. $2.00 is kind of low for the time it takes.
Even $2.50 would be more worthwhile! For a $2.00 only phone shop, I would want like 10 shops minimum. lol.
