How many "Senior" Shoppers Out There???

I think I am two shoppers in one. When nothing hurts, I feel twelve and can do anything. I look young on those days. I could shop young on those days! At other times, I feel a thousand years old and should be the go-to wizened old crone for shops requiring the perspective of the old and wizened. Someday, the young will be like this. Will they want our input now as they plan for their future? Will they exclude us at the risk of finding out too late that... Well, it would serve them right if they did not seek out the perspective of the old and wizened. We have lived long enough to know that the old still know stuff. Useful stuff. Stuff that can steer us away from pitfalls and other unwanted conditions. Some of us still remember that we never wanted to know this stuff when we were young, either. Oh, well. They will deal. Or not.

I also remember doing a shop several years ago with a top age limit of 45. Any guesses what type of shop that was? If I added a must be female restriction?

Maternity shop of course. lol I think that one makes the most sense of any. lol

70 may be the new 45:

Heading for 79 in September and still taking those out of town onsite inspections that are a couple hundred miles away - that is, if the incentive is high enough. I, too, have back problems but always plan to stop frequently and taking blood pressure meds means stopping at each place that has a decent restroom facility. Out here those can be few and far between!
I don't do fast food but love the casual dining shops - stretches those food budget dollars. And depending on compensation will do just about any kind of shops but stay away from the shopping centers projects.
I will be 70 in a couple of weeks. I do mostly gas audits and insurance jobs for We go Look.
One does not have to be Medicare age to do the Medicare shops. One can be younger to preform those types of shops. One is only collecting information. and observing if the representative is supplying that information and not soliciting participants.

I'm 68 and just completed my first year of mystery shopping this month. I love the flexibility, challenge, and mini-paydays! With frequent travels, grandkids, and other activities, its more of a way to keep my brain active than it is a way to make money for me. I'm picky about the shops I do as well. I'm thinking of trying a route soon as there is a smaller town about an hour away where the shops seem to go begging. I've learned so much from you seasoned shoppers - thank you for sharing your wisdom and your experiences!

Susie shopping the Columbus Ohio area and outlying communities.
I noticed one of my favorite MSC's shop board seemed to have dried up on me the last few months. I was a little sad as I love the company and the scheduler but just figured they had either lost the contract or I had "aged" out somehow. The scheduler called me last week and said that they only want shoppers from 18-55 and she had lost her best shoppers because of the new policy. She then asked if I would do the shops for a healthy bonus. I explained that I was 62 and she told me "oh we can waive that requirement". So I took the shops because the money was good and I do like the shop since it is easy. Still I cannot believe that at 62 I am "too old" to take a picture of the bathroom. Don't they know the older you are the more you need the restroom?
Boy, ain't that the truth, teriraia!!! I know every clean restroom in western Nebraska, eastern Wyoming, southern South Dakota, and northwestern Kansas -- got 'em memorized!!!! And, just FYI, there are no
clean restrooms in northern Colorado -- I know, because I've checked them all!!!

Reliably clean anywhere: Walmart and McDonald's.

Wait a second, I take that back -- neither location is reliably clean in the deep South.

63 making about $400/month, working at a full time job also. When I retire in 1 1/2 years I will mystery shop full time.
Try iSecretShop, Job Slinger, and Gig Spot. Also the MSPA website lists member companies. I have done several Medicare shops, most often with Trendsource and Second to None. I would love to find other companies but am limited by where I live.
Wow, a Senator for a cousin. And I know about those genes, She just had, what was it, a stent or pacemaker procedure one day and was in the hearing room the next, was it back in May? I love it. And I also find this encouraging. I only started doing this just over one year ago, I'm 52 with a nine year old for my youngest, so I am heartened to hear that I can do this for much longer. I enjoy the variety and the flexibility. I just wish I had more freedom to do some route shopping, even just longer day tripping jaunts. It's the summer vaca and the school schedule that limits me. Wishing you many more years of good health and shopping and dining adventures!
ACL has several restaurant shops with a top age of 98. I guess I'll be mystery shopping for a few more years.

Yeah, I saw that.....the only ACL shop I've done for them was actually a retail shop last year, and it, too, had an age limit up to 98!!! So, last year, at 63, I did the shop and got some very nice feedback on it, too! Nice to know some of us shoppers fit their demographics!!

Hi! I am 59, just getting started. It's sad that we're treated differently because of a number by some. Wisdom and experience can go further in assisting businesses alongside with youthful creative ways. Any advice? :-)
I just watched an HBO documentary, "If You're Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast." Carl Reiner, Dick Van Dyke and others. All over 90 and still working. Very inspiring!
I have had age requirement's lifted, but not often. The client wants that, so usually no arguing. There are still
many restaurants we can do....ISS carries Goodwin restaurants, and many have the age requirements, which is balony, as my friends go there and are my age. Seniors have time and (speaking for myself), know my food and up on gluten and all the healthy cooking. Younger folks usually have a job or kids at home, and not available.
Try Customer Impact, and ACL, no age requirements.

Hi Theresa4gtl! Welcome to the Forum!! There is a TON of helpful information over on another thread of this Forum, just for new mystery shoppers! Here is the link.....there is far too much to mention here. So, sit back with a cup of whatever you like to relax with, kick your feet up, and read away...you will learn lots and lots, especially from the long-time, experienced shoppers on here. Here is the link: [www.mysteryshopforum.com]
I've been MSing since I was 52, will be 59 next birthday. Plan on shopping until I physically can't.
I just turned 60 and will be retiring in less than 2 years. The closer I get to the retirement door......the more I shop. My goal is to pick up 1 new company a month and test them out. Hopefully by the time I leave my full time job I'll have an idea which companies I want to devote my time to. Currently I have a weekly, a monthly and a 90 day project I'm working on. Love the flexibility of being able to work around my full time job.
I started when I was 18 doing tobacco checks a 26 (to old) friend from college told me about it.

Since the thread I was going to answer on is closed, I'll answer here where I belong. I asked my friend Steve to join me for breakfast at my favorite Beverly Hills place, and had such a good time listening to his adventures, I almost forgot to shop. He taught me everything (I used to know) many years ago that I have now forgotten.
Thanks for joining me and making this assignment fun, and yes, that pastry was the bomb. Driving into the city,

I can't figure out why that thread was shut down unless a troll has been allowed to take over the forum.

100% with you, was a bit surprised when I was going to respond to Steve's thank you and it was closed????

I did regular shopping for 10 or so years - but found s I neared the 'senior' age (in Canada it seems to be more likely to be 65) more and more shops were limited in age. I'd be interested in knowing which companies, in Canada, still have open minds
I'm busting with pride at all the senior shoppers working and enjoying....keep it up and good health to all.

Just saw it based on your post. Very inspiring show !
