Is anyone doing 5 Guys shops for any MSC?

I don't like chips or pretzels either.

I could have a whole thread of food I hate.

Yeah, we did pretty much hijack the thread. You could start a thread about food you hate and all kinds of people would chime in about their favorite and hated foods.

But yes, I see a handful of 5 Guys in my area right now...
nyer, i never liked chips, ricotta cheesecake, or chocolate (notice the past tense). But, if you don't like bread, then we're not from the same species.

Why in the world would anyone want to eat American cheese (AKA processed cheese, oil, etc.) when you can have a nice slice of cheddar? To each their own, I guess.

i like american on burgers... cheddar is more a snackfood cheese for me. pipcorn, cheese curls, crackers, i can handle some cheddar. definitely not on pizza though, what annoys me is the places that use the mozzarella/cheddar combo. no way, pizza either needs to be straight up mozzarella, or a mozzarella provolone blend that favors the mozzarella.
back to five guys though, this is my tip for the day. maybe you guys knew this already, but if you order a blt, ask for extra bacon. they don't charge you, and you get twice the amount.
5 Guys in my area also.

Is there a limit as to how many you can do? I have done several these past few weeks.
We have a pizza place that uses American cheese. Yuk!

I love bacon, bread and chocolate.

Only on pizza. Cheese on a burger is so overwhelming, you cant taste the burger.

Not on subs, not in salad, not in soup, not on tacos, not on pasta..... I could go on and on. Its gross.

You don't like cheeseburgers? Cheese is good with most everything, or by itself, or with wine.

this is the reason i prefer american on a burger. it has a mild flavor, and doesn't overwhelm the beef... merely compliments it. most places put way too much cheese on everything, it's gross, i agree with you. i ask for "light on the cheese" on everything, including pizza, or i get it on the side.

american on pizza... wow, the inspector needs to do their job, and shut the place down.
Bacon, bread and chocolate, yummy alone or all together!

I use fresh mozzarella on my pizza. I also put a little fresh grated parm and asiago on top of it.
Speak of. Anybody have a good way to shred fresh mozzarella? I usually freeze it, otherwise it's WAY too soft.

Yep, the freezer is good. I like dollops of it so it's in heavier concentration in some places than others, just like I prefer nearly whole fresh basil leaves instead of chopped pieces on my pizza.
I used the little balls of it last time. Much prefer shredded.

With soft cheese, freezing before shredding is, unfortunately, the only way to make it easy.

There's this cool little eclectic shop nearby that sells these brie bakes...it's brie with portabella mushrooms and port wine in puff pastry. Get a nice loaf of bread and a bottle of wine (who knew) and spread that gooey baked cheese mixture all over the bread. We often have a whole bulb of roasted garlic crushed in EVOO with fresh herbs nearby to alternate as a spread on the bread. Then we eat the puffed pastry part last. YUM.

And yes, there are lots of 5 Guys on the board...just can't seem to stay on topic but only so much you can say about 5 Guys. Wish they had some more interesting food. A friend of mine said that fries cooked in duck fat are awesome...
When did that happen ?

It seems like 5 guys changed their shopper rotation to once a month.

My brothers and I went to Paris in 2005 for a week. I had a lot of fries and they were the best fries ever. I would be willing to bet many of them were cooked in duck fat. So freaking good.

Also, back to your big chunks of cheese and basil, I'm just the opposite, if I'm gonna eat pizza I want the medley of flavors in every bite. Otherwise i would just eat a chunk of cheese or some basil leaves.

You still get a medley of flavors. There is crust and sauce in every bite (or some other topping), just some have a more pronounced cheese or herb flavor.
I have done the same shop 3 times in June.

Sur Le Table sells duck fat in jars.. Not to enable or anything smiling smiley
We briefly had a Fresh Market which was a convenient place for duck fat and even reasonably priced. Alas, they only stayed about a year.

5 Guys are never bonused in my area. If I need a lunch shop I'll take one every now and then. Yes, they are unhealthy, but they are so good, lol.

I love cheese, faves are gouda , cheddar, Monterey jack, and yes, Velveeta (chili con queso anybody).

I don't check the forum every day so I'm always behind the curve. Better late than never. Hard to keep up with this one.
Up here in NE Ohio we use a brand of fontina/fontinella "Stella". My husband will be unloading the groceries and start screaming, "Stellllaaaaaa!!!!" (Have to be a certain age to get that).
